The Jaegerhund breed was developed in Germany in the early 1800's to hunt vermin in the local forests. Their origins are humble, as they were developed by the poor farmers and not nobles. They used the fastest dogs they had, and bred them with the best hunters. The result was a medium-sized, versatile, and courageous hunting breed that was extremely loyal to both the hunters and their families.

This is an OPEN breed! You are welcome to make your own as long as they are withing the breed standard.

I just have some questions about the Jaeger:

1): Eye colors; are there any specific eye colors for the breed? The ones I've seen so far are blue and brown.

2): Unique markings; can your Jaeger only have one or two at the same time?

3): Health-wise; is there a way to get your dog health-tested when you create it?

4): Character-realted: can your dog be in a story or comic you want to make?

What happened to this breed? I used to see them a lot but now they seem to have died out in DARPG

Is there any kind of specific work Jaegerhunds do? Like herding, sledding, etc?
SvalbardRanch Featured By Owner Jun 26, 2016  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Yes, they are very versatile but because of their prey drive they cannot do herding.
Here's some info on what they can do, listed under "Personality and Versatility": JAEGERHUND GUIDE

It's all in the Jaegerhund Guide- Jaegers cannot herd due to their hunting drive, and aren't ideal sledding dogs. They're built for hunting and can climb trees after their prey. They're also ideal for active sports like Schutz, flyball, and dock diving.

Are there activity rules for owning Jaegerhund? Looking for a breed to get a kennel started with... very much loving this one.
