10 Swords of Tragedy - Fate of the Blind Juggler by JaduharaIndradhusara

6 of Swords from Khaoamusica Extended Edition

Those of you who are perhaps readers or fans of G.Morrison &/or Alan Moore or Alejandro Jodorosky will probably know that each of them are illuminates and students of the Tarot as well.

All have insinuated Tarot lore into the narrative of many of their fictives.  The writer and auteur Jodorosky gave us an exhaustive study in his excellent nonfiction Tarot study book, 'The Way of Tarot'.

From the 'Invisibles Omnibus Edition' (2014)

In Morrison's epic and mind bending 'Invisibles' there are many examples.  However, it's more of a background literary trope.  But the less well known but intriguing 'Seven Soldiers' it is used in prominence as well.  I've taken images specifically from the "Invisibles Omnibus Ed." (illustrated by various artists but penned by Morrison) and created a fan tarot deck of sorts.

From "Promethea Vol. 1" (2005)

With Moore his tarot knowledge is MOST apparent in the lucid and wonderfully illustrated epic and introduction to western hermetica, 'Promethea' ... My work here was strait-forward as I adapted and reworked the very images from Volume 1.

And finally, I've posted my first illustrated tarot.  I created it in 2014 as a way to study the imagery and lore.  These are my illustrations but I've included on the back traditional tarot interpretation of each card along with excerpts from Jodorosky's wonderful book of lore mentioned above.

I have had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the finest artists & individuals from around the Western Hemisphere this past year in the Khaoamusica Tarot.  (thekhaoamusicatarot.com/galler…)

The Khaoamusica project was a wonderful experience for me and I had the opportunity to illustrate something I had been learning about.  Tarot lore is fascinating to me.  I utilize the tarot frequently in my artistic pursuits.  I have another deck which I completed in 2015 that I am self-publishing by request.  (If you are interested please message me.)

When a Ghost dreams Blood and Violence by JaduharaIndradhusara

From work-in-progress collaboration with fellow Oklahoma artist, Shaun Jackson of Stillwater.

In the present I am excited also to be collaborating with the fantastic horror artist Shaun Jackson (www.facebook.com/shaun.jackson…) on a graphic Horror-themed deck, as yet untitled.  I also am looking forward to the expanded 2nd edition of the Khaoamusica tarot to publish in 2016 which will expand the deck to include not only the Major Arcana but the 4 suits as well.  I'll keep tabs here at DæmAngelic Alchemy.  I also hope this year to return to the charter for this pages name.. A cryptic and epic divinatory deck based on the traditional ranks and personalities of the Judeo-Christian hermetic lore.

From TBA DæmAngelic Alchemy divinatory deck, as yet unpublished

Le vie est de la merde!

Though we may perhaps may enjoy brief moments of sheer bliss...
Entropy takes each and every person we love,
Each and every thing we cherish,
      All memories fade.
      And death is our destiny.

Everything Everyone changes
Nothing we do or think or feel or build or know
Will ever give us permanent satisfaction.

Though we dream that we will find perfection inside ourselves, or in others, or in something...

Everything breaks down and fails us
Everyone including ourselves fail and cheat and lie
And then in the dark
Naked, Alone, and Empty,
In crippling pain, and utter confusion
Each and Every thing Fails

No Mick - there is no satisfaction.
in spite of our best efforts to think IT,
TO demand IT,
TO believe IT...

In desperation
We create the idea of an inherent self,
We may call it SOUL,
Or SPIRIT,
Or MIND,
Perhaps we may not bother with IT at all.
But no matter what we cannot escape the fact.
That no THING can sustain us.
That no THING will remain,
That for each and every EFFORT we make ...
In vanity we begin,
and in vanity we end.

Le vie est de la merde

Y en el fin...

Latim Mors solum verum
Mors est solus verus Amice

Death -
The conquering worm.
Consumes All in the END

This is a noble truth.

Tong Len - The practice of giving and receiving

This engagement we as artists are doing here on Deviant Art can it truly be the kind of engagement that does change the world?
Vishnu on Mount Kailash by JaduharaIndradhusara

One thing most can agree on is the desire, no matter your belief or persuasion is that we want our voices heard, at minimum perhaps mutual respect and we want to have a hope that we might have a reasonably dignified and comfortable life and that we might pass down perhaps even greater opportunities to those that follow.  At times like these when global tensions are high and circumstances are enormously complex, our small doings can find areas of dialog where we can safely exchange perhaps wildly different beliefs without danger being shot down with thrown stones.

Working on ourselves is the beginning of wisdom some poor chap noted.  And he was echoing a lineage of wisdom that passes back into the foggy depths of history.  In the West, Plato wrote of these words being essential to Socrates philosophy.  But often feeling get in the way of us even getting to that step.  We are so araoused by this or that news, our heads spin and it is no wonder that only vitriol is heard.  So I want to begin introducing a practice which has helped me.

This was of enormous value to healing my anger and resentment following a particularly difficult break up and circumstances.  This is a Buddhist practice from the Tibetan lineages called 'Tong Len', which means 'taking and sending.'  It involves setting aside your feelings for a moment and considering a loved one.  It involves visualizing someone in your life who is suffering.

So find a quiet spot and sit, try to focus on merely the breath going in and out, naturally.  Relax into the breath and feel it carry you.  Visualize yourself as a being filled with light and life.  With each breath you feel lighter and more energized.  Take a few moments to recognize how it feels to be so filled with light and life energy.

Then turn your thoughts to a friend or close family member who is hurting.  Attempt to really get into their skin.  Contemplating the emotional toll, the physical pains and complications, the feelings of helplessness and futility.  Try to imagine them wherever they are at present as if they were sitting across from you.
Appearance by JaduharaIndradhusara

Once you have a clear picture in mind you imagine your friend in the midst of a dark cloud, and everything you have discovered by imaginatively walking in their shoes you project into that dark blog smog. Then imagine that smog condensing. Imagine you have ethereal hands that mold the smog into a smaller and smaller ball of dark poisonous inky smoke. Let that ball hang in the air a moment and watch it float just at eye level between you and your friend.

Then focus refocus on your breathing.  Breathe in & then out, & slowly imagine that ball separating itself from your friend completely.  Watch the relief come over them as if the window shade has been opened and suddenly they begin to feel the light and life that you feel.  Remember the ball of smog, as you breathe in it moves closer to you. It moves on the air that you are moving around, pulling the ball closer and closer to yourself, but gently.

As the ball comes near, turn your mind to the center of your heart. Imagine your body aglow with translucent light that grows stronger as the ball comes closer. The ball becoming weaker with each breathe, until it is finally suspended just above your eye level imagine your forehead as a portal through which light from your blazing heart extends.  Watch it enclose the ball of smoke which has become weaker and is soon surrounded by a ball of light from which no darkness can escape.

On the next inhale, breathe deep and imagine this wrapped up ball of the brilliant light within and the ball of light enter quick as a wink in your forehead and down to your heart center.  Both get brighter until it seems you are amidst an explosion of light which extends out in all directions.  Not painful, no like a sudden rush of laughter and joy.

Then think of the waves of this light extending outward, projected toward your friend who is awash in light and where the darkness had once covered them, they now are shimmering.  Watch them aglow with the light.  Watch them as they thank you and know you have lifted their burden perhaps ever so slightly but on a deep level this cannot be measure.  It has lifted the burden for your friend for a moment and you realize it has lifted your burdens as well.

Now imagine this singular act repeated 10 times by 10 people every day... then 100 people, then 1000, then imagine you are looking down at the planet earth aglow with light that is the essence of each man, woman, child who have come before us and extend into the future.

Eventually, the entire galaxy is aglow.  You can continue until you recognize that this light has extended to every being that exists or has or will.  Each has been enveloped in this light. Sit with this imagined scenario for as long as you'd like, 5 minutes or more. Then taking a deep breath in, hold it, let it warm you and imagine the brilliant waves of light in every part of your body, then breath out fully, as if you are emptying yourself of all that is within until you are an empty but luminous shell. But awake, alive, and amidst a global community of likeminded beings.  The Buddhist cal any being who maintains a mindset such as this a bodhisattva.
Coterie imaginarium by JaduharaIndradhusara

Can we truly be the change we want to see in the world?  If the dominant myth today is that we are in the last days and that we are edging ever closer to doom, than like a self fulfilling prophecy, we will certainly be drawn down that path.

But consider defying that myth. We are artists here.  Imagine creating a new myths and doing this every day.  Simply reject the myth of the end of the world. And instead, imagine the wonderful potential of our species.

Many of us may have heard of yoga for the body well this is a form of yoga for the mind, called dream yoga by some. I challenge anyone to practice that at least one time with sincerity. You will open your eyes refreshed and empowered.

Birds Ov Prey I - Orthodoxy by JaduharaIndradhusara
"Birds ov Prey"

Shed tears twice tonight.  Once was during a sentimental recollection of a time my kids were younger.  Yeah.

The second time was during current events show Vice, the interviews with the Eagles of Death Metal.  I saw the faces of post-trauma, having stared down angry desperate brainwashed and militarized gunmen and brutalized victims..

Not once were words of hatred or revenge uttered.  Nothing but compassion and determination.

The religion of the gunmen is not relevant.  Their ethnicity and the region of the world are important only in that there is plenty of blood on the 1st world for having poured weapons and money and into failed colonies and propping up merciless rogues for years.  Were the gunmen responsible... ABSOLUTELY.. FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

Is the religion responsible? only if you mean the religion of intolerance and rigid extremism.  So, in my mind, if you condemn their religion, you should be equally contempt-full towards ALL religion.  Because there is a sickness of intolerance that finds its way into EVERY orthodoxy.

But there is a proper response to terror.  Compassion.

My governor is a religious extremist.  Her vitriol and orthodoxy have driven her to make foolish statements in the past.  But currently she and others like her are attempting to defy the federal government and refuse to take in refugees from a land where blood in the soil makes no distinctions but flows daily.

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, who claims to be believe in a religion whose first martyr called on his followers to love their neighbors and enemies.  He called them to feed and clothe those who were poor and needy.

I condemn her and her extremist orthodoxy!

I praise the tact, compassion, and emotive determination of the band, EODM, and their fans and the other French victims.

What is the best response to terror?  Compassion.

If you ask me what qualifies me to make such pronouncements, I'll be glad to list the ways.  But it doesn't matter.  It is time for Peace.  How about we start listening to peacemakers and stop listening to warmongers.

Sorry, if my emoting left you sour.   No.  I'm not, if you read this far, than I hope you have more of a spine than to respond with apathy.

Birds Ov Prey II - Wisdom by JaduharaIndradhusara

This is fictive truth.  Like the kind of dream that sticks with you because it is so real, it seems like you left home when you woke up and arrived in a monochrome surreality that is no less strange and absurd as our dream worlds...

When I'm in need of advice, I have been led to 3 distinct personages since I was young.  I was never taught this, it was just intuitive.  Only later in my midlife am I studying different mystical paths and am making sense of what has been a natural, intuitive experience.  I know the paths well but where my journey begins I never know for sure.  When I've tried to force the vision, it often dissipates.  I have these experiences sometimes as waking or lucid dreams or in the liminal state.  But also have learned techniques of scrying / trance work.  During these visions I am 'led' to one of three general places.

The first is to a cave under an enormous tree, down under and within the roots and mud where the tree itself talks to me...
3 by JaduharaIndradhusara

Other times it as if I am in the tropics and step off a boat into the ocean and onto a beach then up a hill to a small shack where there is a elder man in rough clothing at a table.  I've never associated him with a particular racial identity or thought too.  Though he has pale skin he has white cotton-like hair.  He always has a cane and is always joyful and laughing.  I've never asked his name, never thought too or needed to I guess.
1 by JaduharaIndradhusara

Other times the journey is similar except I arrive in a dark cooler mountainous forest environment.  Like the beach shack, the path is up a hill to a small shack where an oriental hermit/monk sits at the table.

All three personages seem to represent the same general archetype for me.  The tree-being doesn't always respond to my presence though I'm down among the roots and the experience itself is powerful, not requiring words.  They help me when I'm stuck or in an emotional taxing circumstances.

As said the cotton-haired olden one laughs a lot.  Sometimes I recall that he smokes a pipe or cigar and drinks alcohol/rum.  He is always generous but oft-times speaks in riddles and fables/parables.

The oriental monk acts a lot like the elder man in the beach shack but is more often stoic though gentle and wise.  He answers with questions which lead me deeper, to trust the wisdom/knowledge within myself.

The more I investigate the more I seem to be learning about spirits/ancestors 'types' but it seems unusual that they are seemingly from 3 parts of the world.

The tree-spirit I associate with the Celtic green man, forest guardian.  In this lifetime I am thoroughly white of obvious European descent.  However, as we are finding out with DNA research, 'racial' differences are have more to do with cultural bias to bias than reality.  For we actually share more in common than we do in actual difference.

But perhaps, this tree-entity seems, someone help me if this seems off, as if he could be in the mountains of Caribbean islands or central/South America, even Africa.. Perhaps like Gran Bois?

The cotton-haired elder at the beachside shack I think is similar to Papa Ghede.
2 by JaduharaIndradhusara

The oriental monk is either a bodhisattva, or,the Buddha or an arhat, though could just as easily be a Taoist or Shinto priest.  It never seems relevant to make the distinction.

It is strange, I always think prior to going into a willful trance/vision that I should ask the names and places but during the experience it never seems relevant.  I also think before to ask of my ancestral heritage but again, never comes up or seems relevant in the midst of these wise ones.  Perhaps as I age, it will become clearer.  None of my family has ever, to my knowledge, shared my experiences.

Anyone have similar experiences?

Was in a contemplative but dark mood today, reflecting on the recent acts of terror which people in the Sudan or Lebanon or any number of other '3rd world' nations experience on a daily basis.

But I received a package in the mail!

The Khaoamusica Tarot!

As soon as I have had a chance to read the book, use the cards in the deck and listen to the music I will be giving as  thorough and objective review as I can.  Of course I am biased since I was a contributor but it's a lovely deck don't you agree?

Welcome, this is not your regular church, I'm no regular preach.

Call me Rev. J. zGiddy from the Church of Christ without Christ

Sit back enjoy some heresy... But heresy tho it be, tis truer than the lie they tell down the road...

They say,

"It's all part of gods plan,"
"God works in mysterious ways"
"Everything works together for good if you trust GAWD!!!"

Pretty words...
If you find BullShit pretty...

Gets me pissed every time!  I have heard those notions cast about all my life.  Recklessly, care-less-ly!

A panacea for the weak?

...or sugar coating for the willfully foolish?

Does it matter, it's NOT truth.

As it is drooled out like syrup, every speaker ever spoke that knows somewhere deep inside its a lie.

I .. Get it.  Ok.  It's fine if you have personally overcome a tragedy to mythologize it in a sense that it has become part of your unique 'story'.  It's natural to feel as if some guiding hand of providence has been your aide.  Perhaps better thought of as your higher self.  I have my own mythology.  Its how we make sense of our lives.

But then the mythology I have is unique.  I don't load it down on others and attempt to feed them my mythos.  You either come freely or don't.  I respect your mythology too.  It should be unique, it is valuable, it is your story, it should be told.

Yet, I live in the Lalaland of make believe and the Lord JeEZUZ...

But, I'm awake and I refuse to tel lies to myself or my loved ones.  Myths are not lies, they are the stories we tell ourselves and our loved ones so we make it through this life the best way we can.

But when lies are used to justify horrible events OR attributed to some Gawd's goodness, it's sickens events further and is a damn distorted view of reality.

The many atrocities that have been attributed to God's inherent goodness is atrocious!

Read the book of Job in the Hebrew Bible (the Xian 'Old Testament') where Gawd 'allows' not only the horrible illness and anguish of Job, but the slaughter of Job's family, every member including their servants!  Satan makes his debut as an angel, but he doesn't lift a finger.

Or the celebration of the Passover, the story in the book of Exodus.. in which God commands the slaughter of Egyptian children as a gambit to force the Pharaoh to free the Israelis from slavery, which God allowed.  I hate slavery, but to blame this or that crime on a 'loving' gawd and to celebrate that... No, not for me.

Or perhaps consider the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah, a horrific slaughter of every man, woman, and child in these once flourishing cities.  For what!?  They were sexually free.  OMG!  That's where bigotry originated... From a petulant gawd...

And Xians look no further than the Gospels where beautiful verse is attributed to Jesus, but also horrible curses and prophecies of eternal damnation for any who don't 'follow' and 'imitate' him.  The atrocities are plentiful and horrible, but all justified by that one small disgusting phrase, 'it was Gods will and everything worked out for the best'.... Even he remarked as he hung helplessly on the cross, why has god forsaken me?

But everything is good right, cuz, they cleaned that up amd added on the part where he comes back, zombie jeezuz... See, everything works out in the end..for good, right?

Tell that to the survivors (if you can find the handful out of the slaughter) from Jonestown.

Or tell that to the soldier who has returned from multiple consecutive deployments to the Middle East, Iraq and Afghanistan... Take your pick...

(war is war is war is war... It's where the rich send the poor).

These patriots...

- truer than the government shills and generals that sent them -

These young men and women, now wounded inside and out, come home to see that their service was commanded under false pretense, and on and on!

But gawd is on OUR side...

In GAWD we trust!

NO!
No, this and that is human evil.
We are to blame as a species.
Not the Devil,
not Gawd,
Human evil.
We must take responsibility!

If you must blame a 'mythological' figure and start with the smothering 'love' of the that gawd you are devoted to..but then if you stayed with me this little long you have your own doubts..

Deep down you know you question the logic of a love.... LOVE?
The love of a 'perfect, all-powerful, all knowing, omnipresent' gawd who's either passivly or actively participated as such horrible atrocities...
You wanna continue to mistake that Gawd's acts as 'good' & acts of 'love'!?

If you are still on Gawd's side after careful consideration,
Than I condemn your faith for blinding you.

I'm not a bigot, I just don't have the luxury of suffering fools anymore.
This small act of generousity I offer is nothing compared to the grief of the widow in Iraq who lost her entire family in the Gulf wars, and on and on.

Walk in the shoes of the victims of your gawd's vanity, petulance, and deceit.

Then let's talk.
There is time for Theses...
This is past.
Any suggestion of novelty is farcical.

There is time for antithesis ...
Which, I suggest, is long overstayed
Any welcome it may once have had,
but alas stuck on an infinite loop.

This is a time for Synthesis...
Syncresis, integration, and aggregation.
It does not negate multiplicity,
it is a manifestation of multiplicity
Into which it has been both subsumed
And out of transcendention distilled.

True syntheses is rare difficult to see
White is not its color.
Black too an equally false equivalency.
Rainbows and melting pots are fine but mislead.

So to find the resolute equation
Which balances each plate while it spins
One must flow with the Cheshire
And topple windmills with steeples.

Some may suggest one path is superior
But this pomposit linearity is equivalently false,
Though our perceptions may suggest otherwise
The delusion will dissipate under scrutinous views
Cyclicals too are discursive, not true
Though they make fine models to convey.

Perhaps the view from the bottom of a bottle
Through a distorted looking glass
Will make clearer what we are dealing with here.

For here it is fine to transcend space and time
Like the subtleties of finest wine.

This way of no thing holds great promise
For it be thingness of this &
The absence of that
Both big things and small are a trap
And that dear is this and not that.

For my son, and fellow artist & traveler!

All things thus equalified
must now be torn asunder,
rinse, and repeat....
oh the existential angst of youth!
Till I realized that everything is a circle,
then someone squared the corners.
And knowledge knowing only circles
I fell off the edge,
plunging down thru the clouds of fear
Clouds of those who fear death,
falling, falling....
eternally falling....or so it feels

Alas, tho I awoke the black sun at its zenith
and I was not falling,
nor was I dead,
nor did I fear the death.
Neither the first death,
nor the thousand thousand others

They tell you as you ran
then sauntered,
then walked slowly,
and finally crawled toward the horizon
which was ever just over the hill.

And finally I lay looking down at the corpse ..
Or the dream of a corpse if there's a diff...
The mottled skin of a gentleman
who never lived for he was ever consumed
by fears....of the past,
And longings for the future .
Ever fearing his guile and guilt ever nearing...
So fixing his eyes upon the horizon.
That imaginary line, a lie
He dreamed of the perfect day,
The perfect partner,
The perfect life that ever should have been,
Could it ever have been?
For that is what they told him
When they tucked him into bed
What they showed him on the tele vision
He was an American, surely he was entitled..
It was his birthright, they told him, he can be, can do
Anything, but in the doing, he never found the illusive door
That opened onto their perfect life...of lies..

And as the last of the nuerochemical stew
In his forebrain jellied, one picture remained
But only for an instant and then it was gone.
I tried to hold on but it was not willing.
What was it?
It could have been true but
It was just another lie
Sleep, now, children, don't you cry...
Momma's got a mockingbird
Don't cry, child....
Everything will be OK
The lies we tell from cradle to grave
Everything will be...
Now, hush....
