Super Smash Bros for 3DS (N64 style)

So. I was coming up with ideas for my StreetPass group's Smash Bros. 3DS launch day whatever-it-is-we-do flyer and this one popped into my head (during a meeting at work). Smash Bros 64 box art with all the original characters replaced with newcomers... and since we only have ten thousand trillion newcomers in this next Smash, that idea worked out PRET-TY well. I did a quick sketch and knew I had an idea I really liked, so I figured it was time to ART IT UP once again. As I was working on it, I determined since I'm waiting on some additional information before a flyer can really be completed, I'd go ahead and just... finish it as if it wasn't going to be a flyer. So this is what I came up with. Other than initial pencil sketches of the characters, this was done in Illustrator. I'm kind of proud of it. I hope you like it as well.

Oh and if you play 3DS and live in the Indianapoilis area... go like my StreetPass group on facebook, it's StreetPass Indianapolis:…

Yes!!  Nice tribute to the original art work of Super Smash Bros. 64.

I can imagine the gameplay style...

It would probably look like a DS version of smash, since the DS is 64 bit!

Noice. I like Villager's pose. Actually, I like how everything seems so well placed here. This one's going in the favorites. Keep it up man.

Thank you very much! Villager was probably hardest to draw because of the angle and the pose, but I feel like I did it alright. :D

Awesome work! Would love to see how it would look without the N64 box shading on it since it covers Palutena and PacMan
Nice touch making it specifically based off of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, since both that game and the original SSB box art both use heavy black outlines on the characters.

Hah. I hadn't even thought about that when I made it, but that's a great point.

For all we know, QUOTE is going to appear in the game any minute now!

Nintendo should do it as a tribute to Mr. Iwata.

I used Adobe Illustrator.

Love it! Great attention to details like the fonts and features symbols on the right.

I really enjoyed the strange art-deco(?) engraving style for Smash 64's art. It made the characters seem like immortal relics in a museum, more so than the generic realistic anime aesthetic of later games.
