Description

I hope that this title makes sense. It's been a few years since I took Spanish and I didn't know it that well when I was in those classes anyway. Hopefully the online translator I used to double check myself did not fail me.

Anywho! This was done as my 2nd submission to the big :icondraw-em-all: collaboration. If you're a fan of my art (and why wouldn't you be), you'll recognize this Ludicolo from an older picture I did. [link] Yes it's true. This is that Ludicolo completely redone. And a bit better in my opinion. Because it is just a redo of an old picture, I'm probably not going to promote it in a bunch of groups like I have been doing with a lot of my art lately. That seems like it'd be cheating or not cool in my brain.

Went for a different look for this one. Was kind of poking around looking for inspiration from different sources and found quite a bit. Tried to make it seem like a style of Mexican art that was in my head that I don't think exists to be honest. I looked all over the internet for inspiration and found some but not quite what was in my head. That's okay though because I think the stuff I found was a lot better than what was in my head anyway. Found some really fantastic art by a deviant named =Vekke that I drew a lot of inspiration for this Ludicolo remake from. I actually, haha, I was actually trying to remember what the style was of those crazy pictures they have in Taco Bells now but I don't think I got anywhere close to that. I just ended up doing a lot of googling Latin American/Mexican style art. On my AI file, I have a green-yellow-red gradient background that helps add to that look, but for the Draw-Em-All thing, the background had to be clear. Oh well.

Well hopefully this is well received. I enjoyed working on that old Ludicolo picture again. It was nice to update a piece like that that I did before I really got into using Illustrator. Typically I just look at old art and go, "I should just delete all this it's awful" (I'm not going to. I like seeing how my skills, as well as my skillz, have evolved over the years), but I can still look back at that Ludicolo picture and not hate it (yet). That's a bit different for me. I hate everything I do after the first day it's done. I just stare at it and over-analyze it and go "THIS IS AWFUL."

As with the last two pictures I did, I tried something new with this one. Went with a texture overlay and a little fun with color burn. I think it turned out pretty well. Hopefully you do too! This whole thing has made me want to train another Ludicolo (that I actually pay attention to things like nature/ EVs, and IVs on). I guess I'll do that when the inevitable Gen III remakes come out. Seems like a good plan.
