Copy of No Strings Attached without the border.
The theme of this contest really appealed to me. Overcoming an obstacle. It seems like this work reflected on an obstacle I have been trying to overcome for a while now. The feeling of being dragged down into a dark place, trying to ascend passed your personal demons and problems.
I have to admit, even starting this project was difficult for me. I kept trying to think of different visual metaphors that reflected the obstacles. The inspiration came when my dad told me about a dream he had about an endless drop and being held down by ropes. It inspired the idea, but conceptualizing it became another obstacle. Eventually it dawned on me that I was thinking too much of the obstacles and not enough of the feeling of overcoming them. That liberating feeling knowing you are untouchable to your problems. Yes, the obstacles are intimidating, but despair is never permanent so long as you have hope.
I actually put a border around this one because the project itself holds some significance to me. Ironically, this was the hardest contest piece I ever worked on. I really had to push myself to even finish it. In the end it became personal. For that I am proud of it.
