Eclipsed Memories - Portrait 2: The King's Study

After four months, I have finally gotten around to coloring in this highly-detailed sketch of Mario and his friends in the Mushroom King's study.

In my first portrait, when the Mushroom King is being taken into the Dream World, he manages to tell Princess Peach, ". . . please, stay out of my study." She then realizes that that was not a restriction but a hint (hence the title). Perhaps there was something in his study that would lead them to whatever it was that the Sapians were interrogating him for. This picture shows the group in the King's study looking intently at an old parchment that they hoped would lead them to this treasure. Since the parchment was encrypted in an unknown script, the group decided that the only thing they could do in the moment would be to try to rescue Peach's father . . . and the only way to get into the Dream World, so far as they knew, was to go to Pi'illo Island and consult Prince Dreambert.

I am particularly pleased by the way this pencil came out − especially with Princess Peach. Every line in the scene comes from my raw pencil drawing without editing or refining. All I did was add the title at the top and move the text down slightly. Even though there are a few small kinks (Mario and Luigi are a little too close together and Cappy having been drawn a little too hastily), I would be happy to put this on my artwork repertoire.
