This scene depicts the most important moment in my entire story: Toadette sacrificing herself for the team . . . for the Mushroom Kingdom . . . possibly for the entire plane of existence. You'll need to read the story for more information, for there is too much action going on to display in this short portrait series (
www.fanfiction.net/s/13398828/…).
After Wart had disposed of Bowser (see previous portrait), he was finished toying with the quartet and was now seriously bent on wiping them all out in one quick sweep. Toadette realized that her spore counter, an ability she had discovered during the adventure, might be the only thing powerful enough so as to be able to counter Wart's attacks. So she steps out in front to defend her friends and take on the brute of Wart's fury. In fact, she had become so resilient that the frog had to resort to the most atomizing discharge that he could muster. The portrait above shows the immediate aftermath.
The effort of countering the unfathomable onslaught was too much of a strain for Toadette, and it drained all the life out of her. She was essentially dead . . . Game Over . . . not even the 1-UP Mushrooms could save her now. Then it seemed as if her efforts had been in vain when the three remaining heroes witnessed Wart get back up again. But it was
not in vain . . . as my next portrait will depict. This scene is sad, but the next one should be priceless! Stay tuned!
