Eclipsed Memories - Portrait 14: The Vim Extractor

As mentioned in my previous portrait, Toadette was bound for worse hardships . . . in this case, it's when the prototype vim extractor goes haywire as she is strapped into it. Now this was not due to a malfunction in the the machine's operation but sabotage, as Nerr T had been strapped into the device very shortly before with no ill effects. It was only when Toadette tries it that tragedy strikes, for Kamek sneaks in and wreaks havoc and ends up malfunctioning the machine, causing it to be stuck in extraction mode. Both the main shutoff and the safety shutoff switches had been destroyed, meaning that the only way to stop the machine was through the programming. In addition, everyone in the room had been knocked out except Princess Peach (who resisted Kamek's magic) and Nerr T (who had managed to escape the carnage). Nerr T was therefore the only conscious scientist that could shut down the contraption — and he had to do it quickly before Toadette had all the life sucked out of her . . . again.

This portrait also marks my first sketch of a Pokémon: A Pichu belonging to Nerr T that I named Sparky. And don't think that I inserted him into the plot without creating a backstory. I said that Nerr T had encountered a Trainer passing through the Sarasacademy campus and got an opportunity to converse with him about what it's like to train these Pocket Monsters. The Pichu had developed an instant attraction to the ASD even from inside his Poké Ball, and when the Trainer saw this, he let Nerr T have him as the mouse Pokémon was one of his extras that he hardly ever used and had been considering trading him. I introduce the Pichu to the story at the beginning of Chapter 11.
