Breaking Things

The universe gets annoyed with you sometimes. Like there's this little space intern stuck in your head. Snapping a pencil over and over. Muttering stuff under their breath. "Oh, great he's doing it again." Then there's this voice you never heard before. It fogs up the mirror in your mind. Tries saying your name in a few weird ways. Like its reading off some old prescription bottle label. You are just buttering toast one morning. And the toast clears its throat. Does it dramatically on purpose. Says you're the one who has to choose. As if it's been waiting forever since the start of everything for you to get it. Your kitchen starts tilting a bit. Like someone built the set for a sitcom after watching one quick YouTube video. What is a kitchen anyway. The cabinets smell like glue mixed with this mild panic feeling.
