Danger Girl Poster Inks by J-Scott-Campbell Danger Girl Poster Inks by J-Scott-Campbell
The Black n White Inks for my Danger Girl 10th Anniversary Poster print. Geeze, I can't believe it's already been that long! Drawn and inked by me last summer using Faber-Castell PITT artist pens and India Ink for the bigger blacks, faces in background left in pencil. Oversized 18" x 22".

This piece is very inspiring, Mr. C. The composition is superb, and the kinetic energy leaves one gasping vicariously. Nicely done, sir.

WOW, what an amazing piece, I just joined deviant a week or so ago, and my first uploads were images that I drew from your December #4 issue back in 1999 and yes TIME FLYS!!! I rememeber being amazed by your style, and that I hadnt been that impressed since McFarland took over Spiderman. I have a few "Odes" to Danger Girl on my page, it would be awsome if you could check it out and tell me how to improve my skill set. I have thick skin so I can handle real critique.

amazing stuff. I really dig the small things, like the smoke off the shell casing, and the way you draw explosions. very inspiring as I find myself having to draw explosions and shooting stuff.

That is so cool! :D

You know, when i was around 10 years old my interest in comics grew fast and i took classes in comic book making. In one of them my instructor/teacher (who is kinda my mentor now) handed me a dutch version of Danger Girl # 6 (he lived in Dutchland) and the art just blew me away! I couldn´t understand a thing for i do not know dutch but still i couldn´t let go of the magazine. I had to in the end but not without some hesitation. After that i went straight to the only comic book store in Iceland and bought DG # 7!

You sir, i believe, is the first comic book artist to have such an great impact on me and my style! :D I hope you read this and i hope that you will come to Iceland someday! I think that you have some fans here + you would be the second ,,comic book icon" to come to iceland (the other one is Grant Morrisson).

(I hope my english is okay... :) )

great inks!! I don't think I've ever seen you ink your own stuff. I also like your digitally inked stuff, but I'm a fan of Garner's inks. I'm waiting for Wildsiderz, man!!

Do you ever use 3D programs to model your vehicles? Or do you just look at reference pictures? With Google Sketchup (free) one can pretty much find any model they would need to render over. Much as Leinil Yu has been doing.

This piece is amazing, btw.

ZombPunk Featured By Owner Mar 12, 2008
This is great man! I'm always impressed how some of you comic guys can create such a clean, crisp quality to your inks. I'm curious though, if you don't mind me asking how did you get such perfectly strait projecting action lines? It wasn't just a mere ruler was it?
Jon-Moss Featured By Owner Mar 9, 2008  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Man, that must've taken ages to ink.

The sheer amount of detail you've put inot this piece is staggering!!

This looks great. There is certainly a very dynamic feel in it and I liked also the progress pieces of this one. Always interested in seeing how people create their compositions.

I see you are using the pitt pens.I use them also as of late they seem to be darker than the pigma microns huh?
J-Scott-Campbell Featured By Owner Mar 5, 2008
Yeah, I think they are. If I'm not mistaken, I believe they have real India Ink. Maybe that's why.

surely the characters in the background are still in pencil. I'm still waiting for a real follow up to this. I mean, the Bradshaw books are O-kay, but they're just not 100% Danger Girl to me.
