I'm seriously questioning the reason why people are sexualizing Disney characters....
zaco21's avatar
Because they can. This is the nature of art(ists). I'm pretty sure you can find pics of naked guys on this site but I'm not searching.

Pretty sure you can find everything on ere. Still doesn't explain why they'd do this to a Disney movie. Better yet, why they would do this o a kid's movie.

They can do whatever they want. These stories aren't originally kid friendly anyway. You wanna question someone, ask Disney why they're making kids movies out of tales that originally contain rape.

You can find everything on art sites like this one. People have an imagination and they can imagine a lot of things. Even if you put restrictions they'll push the limits, especially when it comes to art. Why wouldn't they use their imagination on a Disney movie or a kids' movie?

You just don't out the right question! Don't as "why" but "why not".

Well, they should at least put a mature tag on it if Wendy's gonna fly around looking like whore.
zaco21's avatar
You gotta be fucking kidding me! Stop exaggerating. You definitely haven't see whores.

I've seen my fair share. Question is, have you?

And yet another question, why the hell are you acting like a 10 year old?
zaco21's avatar
You have? Really? And have you seen that they show what they have WHEN they dress provocatively instead of just teasing? They don't wear a night gown, they wear short skirts or dresses or something similar.

Look who's asking! Your reactions to this are definitely that of a pre-adolescent.

I suspect that a number of people get off on the wrongness of hyper-sexualizing a beloved childhood character.  I think others just want to draw a cool variation on their favorite characters and don't realize how often it has already been done.

And then, I think some people are just wanting to do a particular type of art, and they draw Disney characters in that style because it almost guarantees a certain amount of notice.

In the case of J. Scott Campbell, I believe he was commissioned to do a series of pinup style art for some fairytale calendars.  He probably borrowed so much from Disney's designs because that makes the subjects of his pictures instantly recognizable.  Of course he also has some characters in the series who have never been in Disney movies: Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Thumbelina, and probably some others I haven't seen yet.

Really doesn't explain why she looks like a hooker
zaco21's avatar
She doesn't.

Yeah, she doesn't. Have you ever seen a hooker?

Yes, up and down the streets downtown of where I live. Have you?
zaco21's avatar
Really?! Than why are you acting like you haven't?

It does if the commission was specifically for pinup art.  Pinup art is always hyper-sexualized.  That's kinda the whole point of pinup art.

Even still, it's really weird to see the characters I grew up with like this...

I understand how you feel, but compared to what I've seen other artists do, Campbell's stuff is tame.  So if this disturbs you, I recommend that you not do much browsing among Disney princess fanart on this site.  Seriously.
