This started as a sketch study for a steampunk'd version of William Ware Theiss's awesome Star Trek EVA suits for the Tholian Web. Of course, it got completely out of control.

Everyone was doing bubble helmets back then, and Theiss as usual did his own thing. I lift my pint glass to him!

Many thanks! Great to find a fan of the old-school. :-)

You have some eye-popping work yourself, the steampunk Dalek, Ironman, various armors and sundry are superb, but I nearly fell out of my chair at your TOS cabin set replica. Holy Crap!

Long live Theiss and Jeffries...

Oh, it's always a treat to meet other TOS fans! Hell, I'm such a TOS fan I don't even regard the other movies and TV shows as canon, lol. :XD:

I thank you very much, sir! :) The set replica was a lot of fun to work on, and VERY rewarding. It's not EXACTLY like the cabins on the Enterprise, however, and since I'm such a stickler for details I made up my own Starfleet ship to go around it, as it were. THAT was also fun! ;)

Also, the Joker from Batman TAS *IS* the best animated character of all time - not to mention the best rendition of the Joker (screw TDK).

Jeffries is my hero! :D

Ha ha! I sometimes ignore everything but TOS myself. Others NEVER count, such as Enterprise and most, if not all of Voyager. Oh, and Ezri Dax never existed IMHO.

If I had a cabin like yours, I'd have to have a pro photographer friend take a picture of me in a Mirror-universe uniform with a goatee, sitting looking contemplative at the computer terminal. Just sayin'...

Oh good, I'm not the only one!! And ugh, ENT...what a train wreck! I mean, if you take TOS out of the continuity and just take ENT and go into TNG, it works as a prequel. But as soon as you try to fit TOS into the mix...well, it just shows that the powers-that-be worked backwards from TNG to make ENT, instead of "The Cage" as they should have.

LOL I should have my dad photograph me like that... :XD:

Huh, I never thought of that, but you're right, it's better continuity if you just IGNORE THE ORIGINAL SERIES THAT STARTED IT ALL. :-)

Archer was a poopy-head anyway, not a swashbuckler at ALL.

Do you know of any good follow-on stories/comics/webm=comics? I like Peter David but I never could get into New Frontier.

LOL...and that's exactly what they did with ENT. Hell, it's what they had been doing all through TNG/DS9/VGR, judging from how they always trampled all over TOS's continuity every chance they got...gah, I hate retconning.

Hmm, the only good Star Trek comics I know of (that weren't just an excuse for retconning) was the "Star Trek: Early Voyages" comics. It was only 17 issues, and started to go off-track towards the end, but it followed Captain Pike's adventures while in command of the Enterprise. The first ten issues or so were pretty good, I'd recommend those! :D

So, this suit is based on the tensile properties of the suit reinforcing the skin, and insulating it. The helmet is the only pressurized part. Skin can easily withstand a pressure difference of 14 psi, so the big problem, other than losing blood, is instant freeze-drying and subsequent necrosis of the frozen tissue, like the ultimate frostbite.

that sucks so much xP

Traditional tools? Wow! You've got a great colour scheme going there, love the lighting and how you've shaded in everything so smoothly. Very nice job with the little textures on the armor too :D The background details are totally epic!
