The embers have gone cold
No more the flame burns, bright, blue and bold
Ashen grey and solitary they rest
The flame that was you, no longer lit in my chest
And in my mind your voice haunts me
Your ghost is ever present
Your visage in everything I see
As I line the casket that was once a dream
The dream of us together, pulled apart at the seams
I push the final nail through
And with a curse say goodbye
To the thought of together
To the hope of you and I.
Needed to get something off my chest.
Sometimes I can't find the words, and sometimes they come like fire.
This was more of the latter.
