For someone that's never done much fanart, here's my second in two months. This one is of Moon, of Martha Wells' Raksura books. (If you like fresh, original fantasy, check them out! :eager:… ) As with most of Ms Wells' books, the characters stayed in my head long after I finished reading. So when I saw the image by LaLunatique, it seemed the perfect reference for a Raksura.

Companion piece of Jade

Artistically, this is a bit of a departure for me. The painting of this was a challenge, as Moon is described as being black with a hint of bronze in direct sunlight. So, yeah, transparent watercolor probably not the best choice of medium for this. :-x But I love the lines, even if I didn't quite nail the color scheme. Live and learn, right?

Wow! It's actually traditional art? I'm so impressed! I really love the 3D effect that the ligthing fives.
Also, beautiful character *-* I love it!

Thanks so much, I'm glad you like it! :) It's all traditional, mostly watercolor and India Ink. It's the main character from one of my favorite books, so I hope I did it justice.
