Drawn about a month ago.
As always, a metaphor for real life.
The face and hand both belong to real people. It's hard to draw other people's hands when they're not present!

(This is the picture I was referring to in that other sketch I did of a face.)

Materials: 2B, 4B sketch pencils
Time taken: 2-3 hours

I like how you captured him dissmissing her...like he's saying, "I don't want you."
The way you shaded it and her eyes...lovely. You're an amazing artist:nod:

Yes, that's exactly how I meant it. It's how I was feeling at the time. I'm glad it came across. Thanks for your lovely comment :aww:

Wow, I love the strong emotion in this piece. Great realism as well.
Great job in portraying her expression through her eyes, I can just see the frustration in them.

I like how you get the point across.
Oh, and how you drew the hand is amazing, plus the values are good

I love how you drew their hands ^^ (I find them so hard to draw)But I think the hand which is on the face is too... straight, as if the girl didn't have nose, or something like that (but that's a minor mistake ^^)
And I read about the metaphor in other comments, ans I like it ^^

Thanks a lot for your comment

Hard to remember what I was thinking when I drew it but I don't think the hand was meant to be touching the face, but rather in front of it (I think if it was touching, not only would it bend a little but there would be stronger shadows).
Thanks for the comment and the :+fav: though!

i like it. very well done. but what does it express??

Sorry, I thought the metaphor was self-evident. The girl is being dismissed by the guy with his hand in her face - he doesn't want her, or is pushing her away or something (emotionally, but I've conveyed it physically, which is why I described it as a metaphor). So in terms of emotions - sadness, rejection, loss, etc.

oh oh! I see....i like that...a lot. but she looks scared rather then upset depressed or broken.

Hmm, perhaps the tears didn't come through on the scan. I think her eyes would be a lot wider if she was scared though, note that the muscles around the eye are relaxed? Anyway, I'm glad you like it :)

the perspective is cool, but the girl's face looks a little off.

Yeah, it looks a little off to me too but I can't work out why.
Do you know what it is about it that makes it look "off"?

I think I like this one the best of all your works. The proportions on the hands are very well done. =)

Thank you. I agree, this is one of my strongest pieces on this account. I think Insanity or Silence are stronger though (they're more recent but on my opther account).

Those hands are really great!! (I totally can't draw hands =P) The perspective of the arm has come out really well too! Emotions are great. You could probably go for a slightly wider range of shades, although it's probably the scanner that took them all out...

I wish I could draw people holding things, like the way the girl grips the arm in the drawing... but it just doesn't work for me...

Thanks so much! I think for the hand I was drawing my own hand (v similar shaped) and then used a photo for the fingers. Forgot about the scar!
