I've decided after 10 years in the pet care industry that I'm putting my foot down and changing my career path, I deserve better than the stressful chaotic environment that it has become in recent years and I want out ASAP. Honestly, lots and lots of photo studies. I always recommend to sketch in ballpoint pen so you have to work with your mistakes instead of erasing them. And, though this is possibly a bit controversial, trace photos (for practice ONLY, don't sell stuff you trace unless you own the rights to the photo of course) so you can see how the animals look as lines. After you've traced it, try redrawing it on your own without tracing and see what you've learned.
