Jealousy (Ushijima Wakatoshi x Reader)

Jealousy.

It was the feeling that ate you up and caused negative thoughts to plague your mind.

Jealousy.

It was the feeling that’s been causing you to overthink.

Jealousy.

It was the feeling you hated and you wanted it to stop.

After Shiratorizawa had appointed a new female manager, you couldn’t stop feeling jealous. Just from attending a few practices and seeing the way she interacted with Ushijima, you knew she liked him. It made you feel uncomfortable and you couldn’t stand to watch them talking to each other. She blatantly tried to flirt with Ushijima but you suspect that he had no idea that she liked him.

You hated it, you hated feeling jealous. You trusted Ushijima and you had faith in him but sometimes a little assurance would be nice. Talking to him about it would solve the problem but seeing as how your relationship was still new, you didn’t know how to bring it up and you didn’t want to bother him with such petty problems.

“You seem unusually quiet,” Ushijima mentioned on your walk on.

“Uh yeah, just have a lot on my mind is all,” you replied.

Ushijima just nodded in response. He was never one to pry so if you didn’t offer information, he wouldn’t ask for it. However, he was worried about you. He noticed you were becoming more distant but he didn’t know what he did wrong.

Did he say or do something to upset you? Did you get sick of him prioritising volleyball over you? Did you just not like him anymore?

He wanted to say something or ask you about it but he didn’t how to; or maybe he just didn’t want to.

 He didn’t want you to tell him that you were over him. He didn’t want you to tell him that you were sick of coming second to volleyball. He absolutely did not want you to tell him that you didn’t like him anymore.

“W-Wakatoshi, if you liked someone else you would tell me, right?” You asked.

Ushijima was surprised to hear you ask such a weird question. “Of course I would but I like a lot of people, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have any friends.”

“No, not like that. I mean if you liked someone in a romantic way,” you explained.

“Why would I like someone else in a romantic way when I already have a girlfriend?” Ushijima raised his eyebrows at you. “Surely you don’t think that I’m that kind of person.”

“N-no, I don’t,” you replied. “It’s just that you seem awfully close to the new manager.”

“(R/G/N)-san?” He asked and you nodded in response. “We are nothing more than mere acquaintances, (Y/n). I only speak to her about anything regarding volleyball but she tries to small talk me.”

You chuckled. “You hate small talk.”

“Exactly why I could never be romantically interested in her,” Ushijima said.

He suddenly stops walking and grabs your hand to stop you. He pulls you closer to him and places a tender kiss on the top of your head. “I know I’m not a very affection person but I really do like you, (Y/n). You have nothing to be worried about, the only one I look at is you.

“I’m glad you came to Shiratorizawa.”
