Found this one the forum and I have a few suggestions. I can imagine you put in a lot of work and effort in it but it still looks unfinished and rough. Here's what I think you could do to improve on that: first when you make your sketch, before you start coloring, clean up your lineart. If you want to leave the lines in make sure they work well, that there is harmony and variety in them. Refine them, vary their width, make them graceful. If not, then make sure they are on a different layer that you can discard. Secondly, when you start applying color, first use a full opacity brush to block your colors so that the background doesn't peek from below (the white here make your colors look watery). Thirdly, when you make your color palette, make sure you have not only a highlight and shadow color - have at least three DIFFERENT shades of the color (not just different values), one cooler, one warmer, etc. And lastly, it's a good idea to have a black and white settings layer on top that you can turn off and on and watch out for your values. You want to have a harmony of light and dark in your painting otherwise it just looks like a smudge on the thumbnail.

Firstly, thanks so much for all the pointers, I really appreciate it! I do honestly need to start working with solid colour blocking or I'm just going to end up with watery colouring every time :/! I think I'll definitely try out the black/white settings layer so I can work on improving my values and also the warmer/cooler shades as well.

So yeah, thank you again for taking the time to write all of that down ^^

No problem! You already have a good basis to build on, and I hope these bits and tricks will help speed up your improvement process.
