i really like this tutoial cuz i've been wanderin how to do stuff like that, but fer some reason gimp wont let me copy a layer into the layer mask of the image nor let me add the drop shadow to the layer mask... any suggestions of y?

you may not have the layer mask selected. click on it in the layers window, then paste.

you want to apply the layer mask first, then do the drop shadow on the layer. you are correct, the shadow can't be done to the mask.
