A Wonderful Year

Journal Entry: Wed May 1, 2013, 7:16 AM

And so my time as a community volunteer on deviantART has come to an end, so I would like to thank all of you who made it memorable. I loved every single second of it and I wish wholeheartedly that I could have been done more but a new job mid-2012 really took away most of my free time.

After nearly a year of featuring absolutely incredible works of art, I am left completely in awe at the amazing talent we find within this community. I will miss the process of selection but I will keep admiring this wonderful group of artists around who daily make the world a more beautiful place with their frozen moments captured in pixels.

Thank you, Moonbeam13 for your faith in me, Kaz-D and 3wyl for your partnership through it all. I'm sorry I couldn't have given more but I want you all to know that I am profoundly impressed with your hard work for this community and grateful for your time and dedication.

Keep up the good work everybody!
And keep posting, people.

Love you all.
Isac

Check out all the amazing DD's I featured during my time as a CV.

My Favorite DDs of 2013 (so far)

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 14, 2013, 6:50 AM

Hello world!! It has been far too long since I've updated this journal... my apologies. I have been so busy with work these days that I'm finding less and less time to focus on my art and on deviantart. Nevertheless, I still love checking out all the amazing photography on deviantart every chance I get throughout the week. So far, 2013 has been an amazing year, with some incredible photos in the APN gallery. What do you all think?? Here are my personal favorites so far that I've also featured as DDs. Check them out:

Pine Needles In The Snowfall by JoniNiemela    Pine Needles In The Snowfall by JoniNiemela

Looking back now, I really should have saved DD for December or Christmas. What an incredible photo! I love the effect the snow gave with the bokeh: that magical look. Basically, brilliant lighting and beautiful focus.

Ciril wonderfully captures the innocent and youthful passion for aviation in his little brother's eyes in the beautiful photo: Sky Captain.

eagle by michaelrumiz Eagle by michaelrumiz

The moment I saw this shot, I knew it was one of a kind.. definitely worthy of a DD. The composition, the framing, the focus, and especially the great expression and angle make this a jaw-dropping capture. The water splash in the back gives it an even more impressive feel... definitely one of my favorites on dA.

Snowflakes with Amurshaya by Eltasia  Snowflakes with Amurshaya by Eltasia

Eltasia has an absolutely beautiful gallery, but this particular shot really stood out to me for a few reasons: the clarity, sharpness, lighting, and a sense of majesty mingled with calm, peaceful bliss. You can't help but feel that sense of pure bliss the tiger seems to have here. Lovely shot.

Albuquerque Lightning by k-n-8   Albuquerque Lightning by k-n-8

This is one of those awesome, in the literalsense of the word, photographs. Perfect timing, wonderful clouds, and great technique makes this one of those photos you want to stare at for minutes on end.. you almost can sense the power of the storm here.

Toaster by one-shot-below  Toaster by one-shot-below

Toaster by one-shot-below is a fantastic example of perfect timing and brilliant composition. I think this was the first DD that I ever awarded and to this day I still find this an excellent example of great setup, composition, and patience.

Flight.. by M-Atif-Saeed   Flight... by M-Atif-Saeed

I love this shot for several reasons. First, it showcases one of my favorite birds from my home country, Brazil. Macaws are just awesome creatures. The focus on this shot and the great position of the wings is really what stood out to me most. I would love to get  shot like this someday... very inspiring.

Top 21 DDs of 2012 (part 1)

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 30, 2012, 10:03 AM

As 2012 comes to a close, I felt it would be great to feature my personal top 21 photos of 2012 that I chose for the Daily Deviation award. This only goes back as far as July since that was when I started as a Community Volunteer. In the following days, I will be submitting three journals showcasing these beautiful works of art. They are my favorites, the ones that I take great pride in featuring and revisiting every now and again. I hope you find them as wonderful as I do.

Have a great 2013 everybody!!
Let's look forward to another wonderful year ahead, eh?

Cheers,
Isac

What I love most about this piece is the abstract feel it has while still keeping that "animal-kingdom" mystery. It is a wonderfully composed shot with brilliant lighting and color.

:bigthumb300567986:  Mom Knows Best by iphelps

This shot stood out to me while I was selecting which animal photos to feature because of its beautiful, "realistic" perspective. Many of the animal shots we see here on dA are taken in zoos, in controlled environments. This, however, was taken out in the "wild" making it even more incredible, besides just plain wonderfully composed.

Cheetah Cub Kill by MrStickman is not only an exceptional photo, but also a startling reminder of the ferocious, real world of wild animals... a stark contrast to the cute and tame feline photos we are accustomed to seeing.

This shot was one of the few jaw-dropping photos I remember seeing on dA when I was still a newbie on here. I fell in love with it then and used it as a benchmark standard for my own photos later. Today it is still an incredible work of art, beautifully composed, brilliantly captured.

After the End of the World

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 20, 2012, 5:31 AM

The end of the world has come and strangely, we still need calendars for next year. So for those who are interested in getting your 2013 calendars here are a few that I've made here on deviantart throughout the years. Hope you enjoy them. Have a great Christmas and enjoy the end of the year holidays.

Cheers,
Isac

Guatemala 2013 Calendar by IsacGoulart   Guatemala 2013
Hey everyone…

It's that time of year when I release a calendar once again. 2012 really flew by quickly, didn't it?

Well, I'm really excited for 2013 coming around the bend and especially for this particular calendar. I've decided to do things a bit differently for the 2013 calendar by showcasing the incredible beauty of Guatemala, Central America.

Unfortunately while breathtakingly beautiful, Guatemala still has one of the highest rates of malnutrition and violence in the world. This has caused countless children and youth to trade their homes for the streets.

By purchasing this calendar today, you will be helping these precious lives be changed. I will donate all the proceeds from the sale of the calendars to a wonderful non-profit organization giving children better opportunities of education and health in Guatemala.

Please buy a calendar today and donate to this wonderful cause.

Thanks everyone and have a great 2013!

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 6, 2012, 11:16 AM

November....another month gone by, again! And 2012 is coming to a close. Wow. I really wish I had more time to spend on dA but lately my new job has been consuming all of my free time. Luckily, I still have the incredible privilege of sorting through some breathtaking photos every day. Last month was incredible and I thought I'd share the round-up of the DDs I awarded. Check out each individual artist's masterpiece in full view if you get the chance.

September DDs

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 9, 2012, 11:55 AM

September was a particularly incredible month with some exquisite nature & portraits DD's. Not only did we see some stunning landscape and waterscape shots this month, but I feel it was particularly strong in the Animals category.... a dog, some felines,  birds, a chameleon, a fox,  wild pigs, raccoon, and even a red panda. I hope you all enjoyed this month's round-up and I look forward to seeing what October has in store. Keep sending me your suggestions.

Enjoy the round-up!

August DDs

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 19, 2012, 2:48 PM

Another month gone by and due to my crazy schedule, I've only found time now to upload the round-up for the DD's I featured in August. What an amazing set of photographs. Every day, I'm repeatedly blown away by the level of talent on this site. It is simply incredible. By the way, I am now the official APN (Animals, Plants, and Nature) community volunteer, so send me your suggestions for that category. I look forward to them!

Enjoy the round-up!
