In The Old Days
A Thursday Prompt
I sat in the special medical alcove as a soft humming sound occupied the rest of the room. I passed the time by watching the news scroll on the hover monitor in front of me. The president of Neptune had just been re-elected. At least that was one good thing. I sent a mental message that visiting Neptune would be my next course of action. Once I was healthy enough for fold travel I would make the arrangements.
Danielle and our two great grand children came into the room.
"Grampy! We're going to Neptune!" Shouted Shana, the youngest.
"You told them already? It was going to be my surprise." I asked my wife who at one time had been my husband.
"Yes, dear. I got the message only a moment ago. Sorry if it was a surprise." She said.
I smiled. "Well it's okay. I bet Miles has never seen the rock field in person." I looked over at Miles and he seemed unsure whether to approach the alcove so I smiled at him.
