Well, it took them long enough, but deviantart's morality police have finally found me and removed one of my pictures. I feel like I've finally made it as an artist.
Unlike some folks' experience of this, they actually elaborated and provided a reason - a completely fictitious one, since it would take yoga-like contortions to interpret the pic as a violation of the rule they mentioned. And curiously, other pics in my gallery come a lot closer breaking it than the one they removed does.
Anyway, the pic was called "Little Rebel: Something Borrowed, Something Blue", and is on my Renderotica page if you're curious. There's an option to dispute the decision, but I can't be bothered going through whatever that entails. And I'm not going to moan about it - they can interpret their own rules however they want, and free speech doesn't entitle you to a platform. It's just disappointing.
I may think about taking down a few other pics from my account here just in case. Let's put it like this - if they didn't like that Little Rebel pic they definitely ain't going to like Swapping Stories
, which I'll probably be removing shortly along with Ponypalooza
, and sadly one of the ones that was part of my collaboration with JDLong
All of which is to say that if there are any pictures of mine you particularly like, I'd save a local copy now before I or deviantart delete them.
Although any I remove that weren't on my Renderotica page before, I'll upload over there, and will continue to post any new stuff there (same user name without the "-R"). Which sucks, because Renderotica's site tools and community features suck (in fact they're nonexistent). But I'll use a journal or image upload here as a notification if I ever make a pic that's going to be exclusive to there. If you're not familiar with that site, it's most just a free gallery site, a sort of shitty version of DA without all the functionality.
