Needed More

Makkolo just wanted to get away from the chaos the world had descended to. But everywhere he went, it seemed to follow him, almost to the point of wondering if some magic user had laid a spell on him. People they passed by were more often than not, unfriendly. Some, the young man learned to be wary of, and some learned to be wary of him. But the small group that they came across one rainy night seemed to fit neither category. They were children and their injured guardians, both though initially wary soon learned the other was no threat. While they spoke little, the utterance of "magic" remained only a weighted atmosphere and they, like he, grew weary of it's burden. Makkolo didn't ask, he didn't want to know, instead he offered. The white mare had helped him faithfully, and she would take them back to her home where hopefully they'd be safe. Being without a good horse right now was a near death sentence, but they needed a mount more than he, and Makkolo felt set to wander further away from their path. Their greatful thanks warmed him, a warmth he realised he sorely needed.
