Hello there! You have been visited by a Critique Ninja! We stealthily roam the site, looking to leave thoughtful and useful criticism, as per the spirit of CRITmas. Mind if I just hop on to business, then? Just swooping in and out again - that is the Ninja way...!

First things first: I need to commend you on that composition, because while it takes a risk painting the cat nearly in a corner, looking small, I think it works.
The description says 18" x 24" though; is that accurate? Because this looks like a square, to me.

An unwanted side-effect of the composition though, I fear, is that we have this huge blue shape of the couch drawing our attention before it moves to the cat. While there's nothing wrong with that in itself, it does require that couch to look more smooth than this, I think. Have you tried painting areas yet by first brushing in clean water over its complete shape, and then introducing your pigment so it spreads more evenly (without going outside the wet area)? As it is, I see a more stroke-like quality I tend to associate with acrylics or gouache. If dark darks is what you want, letting the layer dry completely before you add another also tends to look cleaner, in my experience.

That's all I've got. I hope there's something in there to take away, at least.
I hope you have a lovely day, and an even better New Year!
Cheers,
