Like most artists, I've been painting for as long as I can remember. I went to my first art school at five. My first drawings are quite difficult to clearly characterize: sunflowers, ballerinas, cats, mermaids, dragons, giant spiked monsters. Everything is in a bunch there. When did you first think art might be a career for you? Even as a teenager, I was very impressed with Tove Jansson and her Moomins, and I thought that the illustrated original books are amazing and I want to become an illustrator.
