The Khaju Bridge by IRCSS The Khaju Bridge by IRCSS
The Khaju Bridge, located in Isfehan, was Built by Shah Abbas II during the Safavid Persia as a connector between two important boroughs, controlling water and floods controller and a place of leisure and festivals. Many Asian and European writers and poems have told of the beauty of the bridge and of the festivals held on it. In the middle of the bridge two houses were located that belonged to the king and his family. At times the tea house located in the center provided the aristocratic with fantastic view over the mighty capital of the Safavid Persian empire and at others hosted events such as rowing competition and such. The place was popular among the European diplomats whom time and time again have mentioned the bridge in their journals as one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. At the back of the bridge the gates controlled the water by directing it to the abundant Persian gardens located at the rich areas of the capital owned by the wealthy merchants and the noble blood lines.

The piece was a lot of fun to paint. First thanks, to Pascal's reconstruction of the bridge in the 19 century which made the painting possible and second to all lovers of history who have put lots of their own time and effort to maintain the monument, despite the lack of support from the Iranian government which as a general diction shows no devotion to even maintain the Islamic monuments. Today though the bridge has lost some glory it still stands tall after 600 years of carrying the people of Isfehan over the river.

I don't know how long the piece took, I lost count over 20 hours. It was done in Photoshop with Wacoom Bamboo. The reason why I paint these is to to remind some of the lost relics of Persia. Here are some more :D

Your favourite part of history is mythology? :D interesting way of looking at it. there was this professor dude who used to say all my life I was told that legends are history exaggerate and mythology stories that didn't exists. Now I realise it was the other way around.

I meant what part of Persian history do you like? Personally Achemedian and Parthian Persia are my favourite but there are many character through out the Persian history here  and there that grab my attention like like Jalal ad-Din Mingburnu who fought the Monglos during the Chengiz khan invasion.
Give the Norden and Persian Mythology a try to, they are awesome.

True enough. Unless you are Persian and get the stories through folks tail or are so good in Persian language ttht you can get them from the Persian Poetry such as The epic of Kings which is a collection of PErsian mythology (its actually very long something around 5000 pages or so) it's nearly darn impossible to get them.
The reason for that is actually  because  Zoroastrianism   and the current Iranian government or mainly Islam. both Islam and Zoroastrian religion attempted to destroy the previews religion ad the Christian did by either destroying their sources or replacing their ceremonies with their own. And the current government has no intersnet therefore there is no funding in the area of mythology and history as a whole.
Cyrus the great is awesome :D interesting guy though their are some other characters in PErsian history that truly inspire me.
