The colors are well chosen. There is a balance between them, letting the background be cool while the object warm but with cool shadows. This also adds a depth. The shadows are well done, it has been understood that there are different color values as well as lightness values. The curves of background follow the curves of body, fluently continueing the concept of the body. I can sense the calm, safe, sleepy vibration from the painting especially in the face. In the same time there is also some vulnerability found in the sharp outlines of the body.

However, there are several distracting elements. The technique chosen for background and subject doesnt work that much. The harsh lines of background give the illusion of sharpness, while the blended body illusion of blurriness. This doesnt, really work for the eye. The girls right hand seems as it wasnt even hers. It doesnt act anatomical and since its on the sharp surface it "unanatomicy(<img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>)" cant dissolve. It seems that the back is risen enough so that it would be possible for the hand to hide somewhere behind it. Another problem smillar to thisis the blue shadow. It was done with the soft technique of the girl and "placed on the background". It doesnt correspond with the background and seems unnatural, as if put seperately.
Overall the work is very sweet and I could very well imagine it in my bedroom. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>
...plus I understand how hard it is to work on paper.
