My first try at isometric pixel art...I made this with the help of this tutorial : [link]

Comments are welcome, but I'm just starting out. Any general tips about pixel art would be more than helpful. Thanks!

good start! but it does look an awful lot like the one in the tut. But That'd be because you were following it :paranoid: Next time make something off the top of your head, I want to see what you're capable of! :shakefist: I should take a look at that tutorial, I've been wanting to learn isometric.

:paranoid: Perhaps I was following it so close because I've never done this sort of work before. I'll try to make an original one sometime soon, I'm just so new to isometric stuff that it's hard to do anything without a guide.

Good work for your first isometric piece. I agree that the base has probably too much contrast between the shadow and the other colors. I'd use a bit more saturated and yellowish green for the base.

The windows should indeed be brighter and adding some details there (like curtains for some of them) would make the piece a lot more interesting. I wonder why the door is of the same color as the windows, that looks odd to me.

I used their original colors, I need to go back and fix it with better ones. The windows...I'm ficing those. I know they're nasty. ;p And the door....yeah that is a bit odd. Remember this is only my first go around on the image, I'll update it with a second version with all the changes. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, quite nice of you. :aww:

Not a bad start. I can see how much it influenced this piece, and that's understandable since it's your first shot.

As I said, it's not bad. The building looks more towards the front than right in the centre of the base (I'm not sure if that's what you were wanting). I think the colour pallette could have been used better. For instance, the base (the highlight edges) look quite bright, and the contrast between colours is quite large. On the opposite scale, the general building shadings are too close together (what I mean is that there isn't enough contrast) between them. I understand that you've been using the colour scheme from the tute, so that's more so a problem on his part. The same goes for the windows, they look a little thick, and not enough glass.

It's a nice small start though, I'll be interested to see you go in more indepth and put some texture in.
