The Why is Lyme Disease

I forgot how to recognize my self in the mirror, the pattern of words scrolling through my head: all line breaks but no stanzas. I have seen sun rising red through heavy curtains, shielding my eyes from memories of being able to sleep. Darkness is home now, my figure lying beneath fog - brain fog, they call it - I'm not the only one this disease has warped into excuses and explanations that don't make sense. There is no why. Just a continuation of how. How do I make myself a future out of this?

Dust-heavy bookshelves petrify in the back room with lights out. Cardboard coffins hold skeletons of stories without backbones, yellowed with time and peeling in spots shaped like bruises or bedsores. They can be taken out, briefly for a two hour walk to the copy machine, but some crumble when touched by light. Words once so vital they were written and preserved, read and reread - they turn to dust and linger like ghosts, abridged to the musty aroma of old paper.

The hard gray hurts my heels which stick unnaturally in places where tobacco or gum or oil gunk spit black spots like disease, pox spreading on city sidewalks. It's just aesthetics, my problem with the city, a question of color quantity. Square, towering gray reflects cinderblock grays of other buildings; cement sidewalks and asphalt roads rectangle out at right angles, broken by black potholes which gape like the open mouths of gray pigeons pecking at refuse and sludge. Massive Update about Life and Things!

Hello, lovelies! :wave: It has been a long time, and I'm very sorry. My life has been quite hectic for a while now. Allow me to explain: :bulletblue: I spent all of last July in London with a theater class from my university. I think I left pieces of my soul there. I still don't think I've edited most of the literally 5,000 photos I took. :bulletblue: In August, when I came back to the States, I discovered that I couldn't finish my theater minor because the university rescheduled my classes. This was sad. Actually, it was quite convenient. Without my theater minor, I could graduate after a semester. So, I convinced a professor to give me
