|"Ascension of Hiraeth"|
Here is a small section of what is to come with Dragons Kill with Fire.
"My memory of her is waning.
If only I had known that would be the last time to see her rise.
A magnificent sight to behold, rising up, scattering her kin like butterflies. When viewed from afar her immense bulk akin to a great glacier, dazzling in the sunlight.
Movements so fluid, you wouldn't imagine she held many millennia on Tellara.
With her neck held gracefully, only her milky eyes gave away her age, unseeing yet all seeing. Most great behemoths lose their sight, the first telltale sign they are transitioning into slumber, though not many survive to reap that joy.
Unlike most of her kind, she fought for knowledge and wisdom, the rights of the children, elderly and destitute. Thousands have sought her aid, a boon in troubled times. Gaining her the name of "The Great Mother" in more tongues than one.
With her age and great size, she ended countless wars, fruitless in their gain for power. With trembling earth and rushing winds, soldiers fled in fear. The sound of her approach was all that was needed to quell the thirst for blood and glory.
But, that was what it once was, the Great Mother has left us now. A new war is coming to light, darkness spreads across what was her throne. Her daughter may be our only hope to rekindle the fire. The embers die and turn to ash faster than my horses thundering hooves can carry me. My search will continue until I take my last breath. For the Dragon-Kin must reign again."
excerpt from Hiraeth's Journal, the date is unknown.
"Their watch remains unbroken. An array of sentinels, few dare to challenge."
