Hi, I’m Hugin aka Higun -ヒグン
I’m one of the two semi profesional "artists" behind InterbockTransivroom. My partner, GloryArtist, prefers to stay in the background, a choice I fully respect. That’s why you’ll mostly see my drawings and writings here.
Between Student, Hobbyist, and Professional
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, even though I’ve struggled with certain innate physical and cognitive challenges, such as limited concentration, slow thinking processes, a lack of spatial vision, and more. Living with these limitations isn’t always easy, but they have given me a unique perspective on the world—I may only perceive about 50% of my surroundings, but within that 50%, I notice details that others often overlook.
Drawing and writing allow me to engage creatively and keep boredom at bay. It’s difficult for me to pursue a conventional career that would provide a meaningful income. I’ve picked up techniques from observing others and taught myself what I need along the way. However, I have not undergone any formal artistic training in the traditional sense. That said, I no longer see myself purely as a hobbyist since I invest most of my time in drawing and writing. At the same time, I wouldn’t call myself a professional, as I still lack some foundational skills and often need to take detours or make compromises. Even though I’ve been able to sell my work, I find myself somewhere between hobbyist, student, and professional.
Around 20 years ago, I started working more digitally and bought my first Wacom drawing tablet. Since then, I’ve focused more on digital art, and traditional drawing with pen and paper has taken a backseat. That said, I’ve recently found myself sketching spontaneous ideas on old envelopes, invoices, or tax forms, which I later scan and refine digitally. Oh, and by the way, I built my own PC!
Why DeviantArt?
I stumbled across DeviantArt back in the late 2000s (maybe even earlier—I can’t quite remember) and created an account on a whim. Over the years, I sporadically published a few pieces, but my lack of English skills made it hard to engage with the community. About a year ago, I decided to reconnect with the platform and uploaded one or two newer works. Shortly after, GloryArtist showed interest in joining as well. Since he doesn’t speak much English either, we teamed up and created a brand-new account together. Things are going better with this account than with my old one, even though we faced some initial hurdles and went almost a year without posting anything new—but that’s a story for another time.
If you ever have a question about something, don’t hesitate to ask! The worst that can happen is a simple “no.”
Best regard,
Hugin
