Those of you who have regularly browsed my web page will have noticed a distinct lack of new renders or feedback over the last few weeks and there's a reason for that...

My old (And I mean OLD) computer has recently suffered a 'Sudden Catastrophic Total Existence Failure' and I've had to go through the rigmarole of purchasing a replacement.

It also means installing the backups of my favourite graphics programmes, et al and slowly getting back on track.

I thought I'd saved my most recent renders in a cloud backup, but it seems I'd backed up every kind of picture on my old computer BUT those. Yep.

Anyway, until I've finished exploring the peculiarities of Windows11 and installed Poser 11 and my various libraries into this new wonderbox, you, my dear voyeurs; will have to content yourselves with the pictures already here.

On the plus side: My new computer has 4 times the memory of the old one, so I'll be able to start faffing around with DAZ Studio as well as Poser...

This should be fun.

It's not been a particularly happy time for me. What with one thing and another.

Here on D'Art I've suffered particular losses with both Stjepan Sejic (The Artist formerly known as Shiniez ) and his wife Linda (Sigeel) departing the site and purging their galleries as they went.

I'm not going to involve myself in this whole AI muck-slinging shout-fest.

While I CAN draw for toffee, I've never attempted to do so using IT Software

(I take that back. I tried it a long, long time ago using a very early version of Corel Paint with very limited results), concentrating all my efforts on Poser 3D renders and as such I'm not what you'd call a traditional artist.

Thus, I'm going to stay way out of the firing line while others eviscerate each other with their styluses and laptops (They're blunter, so they'll hurt more than knives), over the use of AI Algorithms and how they should be used and with whose work.

Right now, my concern is that I've lost access to some of Shiniez's beautiful works - not just the polished final renders, but also some of his brilliant early draughts from Fine Print (On which I'm hooked) and even if he eventually decides to make a return I doubt if I'll ever see them again.

I know you can view their works on other sites such as Twitter and Paetron (Shiniez's Tumblr page seems to have vanished), but those collections aren't as comprehensive or as well laid out as they were on D'Art.

And so, we've lost at least 2 great artists that I know of from this whole bruhaha and even if they come back, some of their treasured work probably won't.

And that just, really, really saddens me.

Come back soon, Stjepan and Linda.

As my many followers will know (Bless you both), I'm something of a dinosaur when it comes to using £D software.

I'm still using Poser 10 while everyone else is buying the latest Poser (Issue12?) or have switched to DAZ Studio and the characters I use are Victoria's 3&4 and Michael 3 when everyone else is using Gen3,4  and their Vicki equivalents.

Still, the old program has only plagued me with problems - usually as a result of update downloads for Windows, on a couple of occasions.

Today I've encountered a new problem:

I turned on Poser 10 and it activated in it's usual manner, displaying the 'Pose' page with 'Andy' the baseline figure standing in the middle of his window...

But the 'Libraries' box with all the character, pose, materials et al was missing.

Instead, sitting where the libraries box should be was the information icon for Adobe Flash Player - and it won't go away.

I've downloaded the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller (Flash player is no longer supported and they advise you to uninstall it), used it and restarted my computer (twice) to no avail.

I even changed the Poser preference file (I've kept a backup since I had  a problem in the past), and that bloody icon is still there...

Anyway, I thought I'd see if any of you are experiencing the same problem before I get in touch with the trouble shooters at Poser.

'Cos misery loves company...

Yours; Integral.

Eclipse is being annoying again.

Well, to me it is.

I've suddenly found that when I plant my cursor on anybody else's preview image I get the usual metadata - you know, the number of comments they've received for that picture and below it, the favs.

Then I slide the cursor over my own images and all I get is the number of comments.

Where are the favourites?

All I see is the single number...4 or 7 or at best 16.

Is this happening with all of you out there or is it just me they're sodding about?

And how exactly DO you get a complaint across to the trouble shooters who are supposed to rectify these errors?

Wait until it becomes a favourite topic in the forum?

Maybe we should hire Paddy McGuiness to act as our spokesman:

"Come on Lads. Get yer act together. We're not selling pasties on THIS website."

Or maybe James May;

"CLARKSON!!!!'

HAS it really been 6 years since I replaced my old computer?
I have, as those who've read my previous rant will know, just tried out Eclipse for size and didn't like it - and most of the trouble I've had now appear to stem from the software and let's face it; the aging hardware I'm currently using.
Getting into Eclipse was easy - just work the toggle at the top. Getting out of Eclipse was a b*st**d because the toggle had vanished when I switched over and the option to return to classic site in the pulldown wasn't functional (Nice touch, you guys!).
Enquiries on the web page said that my browser width had to be over 1200 for the toggle to appear on Eclipse (That's SCREEN DISPLY WIDTH you guys!' so I had to reset my display settings to make it appear so I could get out.
My computer is that old that my recommended screen dimensions are 1024 X 768 - I'm going to need a new display aren't I?
As for the other stuff? My Google Chrome is up to date, but not according to this website and while it supports Microsoft Edge, it doesn't support Internet Explorer !! - How come? I still use it and so do a lot of over far more tech savvie people.
And Eclipse? I said I really hated it and I still do. The Green Classic site is far more user friendly for me and I think this new incarnation is like Tom Hank's version of 'The Ladykillers' - an unnecessary remake and not a good one at that.
