I'm a "self-taught" artist. (ie. previously too broke to take classes ) I buy books on drawing and read online tutorials on CG coloring to learn new techniques. Mostly I just play around with features and practice, practice, practice! ^_~ I gleaned tips and suggestions from other artists online and meshed what works for me into what I call my style of coloring, which has evolved over the years.
When I first started digitally adjusting my scanned drawings, I used Corel Photo House. It stopped working after a while, so I switched to Corel Photo Paint (a limited edition). Eventually, I managed to get Paint Shop Pro 8, what I considered my first *real* paint program. I really took off from there, learning new techniques left and right. Then, for my 24th birthday, I got *cue angelic choir* Photoshop 6! Now, at 29, I have/use Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2, along with a variety of 3D programs, like Daz Studio and Poser 7.
