RIP my Imac

Tue Aug 30, 2016, 1:13 PM
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yup, it happens eventually to all people, and I am no exception. My mighty Imac has finally passed. It suffered a blow to its power source and cannot be repaired due to it being a "vintage" Imac. They just don't make parts for the old Imacs anymore. So naturally it means that while I am shopping around for a new comp and a solution to the fact that I lost all my Adobe programs (I received them as a gift form a friend, who may have obtained them in "other" ways), arts will be on hold until I get everything back in place. Hopefully it won't be too long. I am on an ebook my sister let me borrow and I am currently looking at Adobe's creative cloud as a solution to my program problem.

I shall return!

John Wick is super cool and awesome!

Sun Oct 26, 2014, 8:41 AM
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Peoples, Keanu Reeves is super cool again. I just saw John Wick last night and I was very entertained. The plot is that he is an ex-hitman who just wanted to be left alone with his pet dog, Daisy, until some stupid punks led by the son of the Russian mafia decided to break into his house to steal his car and kill his beloved dog in the process. This causes Wick to get back into hitman mode and goes on the rampage with a body count that rivals Dredd 3D.

I will tell you right now, I have never seen a movie with gun play like this before. I've seen old school action movies where people just shoot each other and there is the whole gunkata thing started in Equilibrium where they mixed shooting with stylish John Woo martial arts, but this movie, in 2014, portrays something that may just be the middle of just shooting people and John Woo, even if it is very stylistic. If I had to describe how the gun play is, even more so with the character John Wick himself than any of the other characters, which is how he can clear an entire room of armed gunmen by himself, is that he holds the gun in the typical "real world" fashion, two hands, sights in his face and constantly up and following his line of sight at all times while swiftly moving along. This is the kind of movement that you see with police officers only much quicker and kinetic. But that's only for far to mid range. When he gets into close range, he will more than likely either shoot somebody a couple of times in the body to incapacitate them before shooting them in the head or he will wrestle them to the ground to shoot them in the head or wrestle to hold them down while shooting somebody else, then finishing the guy off with a shot to the head. The wrestling maneuvers he pulls off look very much like MMA or Olympic style wrestling, which is a welcome change to how grappling is usually portrayed in action movies like these. Oh sure, some movies have martial arts-style grappling, but not like this, this is something that has to be seen to be believed.

One other thing is that John Wick always makes sure to shoot people in the head, just because he is a very consistent guy. In fact, if they had an alternate name for this movie, it should have been Headshot: The Movie. If you are a bad guy in this movie, you will end up with a bullet to the brain. And somehow, that never gets old. That's how good the gun play in this movie was. You will not get tired of the number of ways John Wick shoots a guy in the face. Now, there are some unique ways he kills people, all involving shooting people in the head but I'll let you guys experience that ;)

Now, you will notice that the only thing I've been talking about was the action scenes, and that's because this movie is a pretty simple revenge movie. Its just a guy who goes on a rampage because some punks killed his dog. You will feel this man's rage and will root for him as kills man after man on his revenge. For something like this, you don't really need more plot than that, the acting and action alone is enough. In other words, if you love action and can't get enough of headshots, do yourself a favor and watch this movie. You will not be disappointed.

A travesty, I tells ya!

So, Equestria Daily had a poll recently about if people would go out and buy transformer ponies and these are the results:

www.equestriadaily.com/2014/07…

I'd save my money for other things but it would be interesting: 35.99%
This is a terrible idea: 27.5%
I'd buy only my favorite characters: 22.96%
I'd be all over that and collect them all!: 14.1%

Dude, I would be totally all over that, just because I loves me ponies and transformers. I'm guessing people have just not seen the potential in seeing their favorite ponies transform into robots. I swear, man, if I had the know-how and the equipment, I'd build a ponyformer, like a third party type of toy, that'll show em'! Muahahahahahahh! >=D

Maybe it is time to finally branch out. I'm thinking of setting myself up a Facebook page for me and my art stuff, which is different from my personal Facebook page, just to get the word out on my art. If I do that, would you guys friend me?

Also, I'm thinking of doing a Tumblr as well. Someone suggested that I do one based on Rumble the pony transformer, do you guys think this would be something you would like to see?

Ok, I've watched a lot of cartoons and shows over the years, and I think that I can accurately predict what is gonna happen in the upcoming episode. Here is what's coming up:

S04, E21: Leap of Faith
Synopsis: Applejack is doubtful of the Flim Flam Brothers' cure-all tonic; Granny Smith tries it and it seems to work.

Here's what I predict of how the episode will go:

Flim and Flam's product is actually for reals but AJ just keeps thinking of them as untrustworthy until something happens, a rainbow connection appears and AJ finally believes that even though somebody was untrustworthy before doesn't mean that they would be again, people change. After that, Flim and Flam gives AJ a bottle of tonic, which is AJ's key and so we also get Flim and Flam's redemption episode.

I'm posting this now just to see how accurate my prediction will be so if I'm correct, then I've clearly watched too many cartoons XD

Mr. Peabody and Sherman is awesome

Fri Mar 14, 2014, 5:56 PM
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

OK, so I've been slacking on my journal entries lately. And its not because I haven't been watching movies, I have. Nut Job, Frozen, Lego Movie, seen em'. I'm actually making it my New Year's resolution to watch everything animated that comes my way. Just watch, I'll even watch that Dorothy returns to Oz movie, and that looks like a piece of garbage. XD

Anyhoo, the critics weren't kidding, Peabody and Sherman is pretty damn good. Its got the feels, the funnies, good quality animation and voice acting. I just can't get enough of Sherman's facial expressions, sooo shmooshy and adorable, especially when he smiles. If I had a kid, I would want him to be like that, not exactly like a cartoon character with a disproportionate head, that would be pretty freaky.

Peabody is actually pretty damn awesome. When their doing the action scenes and he's doing calculations on the fly, it kinda reminds me of Robert Downing Jr.'s performance in the Sherlock Holmes movies where Holmes does his slow motion bit and he has an inner monologue with himself about what he thinks will happen and how to act accordingly, only in Peabody's case, we instead see things like arrows and calculations and numbers, very scientific and stuff. And he uses it at just the right amount when action is afoot that it doesn't choke the movie with this bit, whereas in Sherlock Holme's case, I felt like they didn't do it enough. And he's normally quite calm and composed most of the time that its actually pretty cool, especially after action scenes.

Sherman is pretty cool too. He acts like a typical smart kid but still dumb where and when it counts. I kinda like the progression of his character too, going from an obedient kid to a bit of a rebelious one, then to a more wiser kid. Penny, the girl that gets Sherman in trouble, man, she was a bitch in the beginning and I thought I was gonna hate her, but then she turned out all right in the end. There was something of a romantic interest between Sherman and Penny in the beginning, and it kinda littered throughout the movie, but never got further than just a mere interest and nothing more. After that, they just become friends in school, so maybe in the future, there will be something there.

The one aspect I really liked about the movie was the continuing thing about Sherman being Peabody's adopted son. Now, I've seen the old cartoons before when I was a kid and I never got that kinda vibe from them before. I kinda thought it was just a kid and his amazing dog, kinda like Snoopy and Charlie Brown. However, you do get to see how Sherman ended up with Peabody in the first place, and the montage that showed the whole thing and how Peabody was such a good dad, kinda teared me up. It was awesome stuff, and I felt that even though the whole adventure was partially due to either Peabody or Sherman's fault, but there was no question that they would go to great lengths just to keep their family together, and that was just awesome.

I'm glad that I was able to catch this before it gets replaced. If you didn't catch it yet, what are you waiting for? Go watch it now!

Ok, so I've been listening to The MBS Show (www.youtube.com/user/TheMBSSho…), a brony podcast that does what every other brony podcasts do, talk ponies. Lately, they made a point and a rant, saying that brony analysts spread negativity around the fandom. When an analyst reviews an episode and points out the negative aspects of the episode, it seems that those negative aspects are blown up by the veiwers. I've heard that the negativity can be so bad that the DHX crew are getting death threats over it. Death threats. Over a cartoon show. Really now, is this really the right way to act? Are we really gonna threaten the team that graciously created the show for us over some aspects that are not up to our taste? That is just ridiculous. I grew up on good and bad terrible 80's cartoons. I remembered terrible episodes of transformers were Powerglide fell in love with a human girl or when the GI Joes went back in time to ancient Greece and became the mythical heroes of legend, and you know what? I accepted it. Sure, there are gonna be good and bad episodes, but you know, nobody is perfect. Not every concept that DHX comes up with is always gonna be good, but that doesn't mean we have the right to blame them for it. You look back at whatever show show you loved, and you will remember that there was some terrible episodes, and you will say "yup, that was pretty terrible, but I'm not gonna cry over it".

So, are analysts to blame for this kind of negative attitude? In a way, sure, the fact of the matter is, when you start pointing out things out to people, they will notice it even more which will dampen the overall impact of the show itself. And really, that is something that can't be helped when you become a reviewer. When you become a respected reviewer, people look up to you for your opinion, and whatever the reviewer says, goes. Let's say for example, the new Robocop movie. Now, I heard the first review from UK reviewer of Thatguywiththeglasses Film Brain, and he gave it a negative review, so off course I kinda dismissed Robocop as another failed remake, kinda like the Total Recall remake, however, I saw a couple more reviews from youtube, and they say it was actually good, so now my opinion of the movie is back to gray. Should I watch it or not? The other side of the coin are the people watching said review. These are the ones who see the reviews and takes notice of the negative aspects and take it upon themselves to do something to keep the show on track, even going so far as threatening people.

So, what can be done about this? Not to much. These analysts have the right to say what they want, and they are correct in pointing out why these episodes suck, it all depends on how the people watching will take all this information. There are people out there that will see only the negative aspects, bit in my opinion, these negative aspects can enhance the positive aspects of the episode. Its up to us be in that state of mind. Let the negative out and keep the positive in.

Ok people, I just saw in Equestria Daily about how Hasbro didn't take down Starswirl Academy, the ponies turned anime project, and only requested a name change. After that reading that, I went and posted this:

"Jeez, see people, this is why we can't have nice things! Everytime somebody makes a pony project and it gets shutdown, you wonder why Hasbro doesn't just let them do it. Hasbro can't let us have our products all the time because it is their property after all and they have to protect it.

Being a transformer fan, I always see 3rd party toy makers getting away with transformer toys that are an accurate representation of transformers from the comics and toys, or don't have a toy representation of them ever made, or just a better remake of an already existing toy, and they get their way with a very simple name change. Blaster becomes Soundmixer, Galvatron becomes Mania King - Messiah, Jetfire becomes Kronos, Devastator becomes Green Giant etc., and they can sell these things and people will totally buy it, if the quality is awesome, and it usually is.

I think its about time we take a similar approach. If we want out pony racing games or fighting games or RPGs and don't want it to be shutdown, maybe its time we considered renaming the characters to something totally different so that Hasbro doesnt bring down the banhammer. Twilight Sparkle can be Dark Light, or Princess Celestia can be Queen Amaterasu or Luna can be Queen Tsukuyomi, anything! Hell, maybe even change their cutie marks or not let them have one at all, and then when the game is released, you can get a patch that can totally change the characters to exactly who they are supposed to be, and Hasbro can't take take it down because its already released in the wilds of the internet.

Learn from out Transformer cousins, people, they've been doing these ripoff projects longer than we have and they know what they are doing"

I'm serious, we bronies have to start thinking like this, Hasbro won't let us have our way if we keep blatantly calling ponies by their real names. Its one of the reasons fan stuff that are not ponies aren't taken down by their respective companies, just because its a simple name change and in a way is a parody, which could mean that it falls under the fair use part of copyright law. So maybe, if Mane6, the makers of the pony fighting game or the people who made the cart game, changed their name to something different, maybe things would have been different and I would be playing Pinkie Pie as my fighter of choice online right now. I'm still stoked to see what Mane6 will bring us instead of ponies, but still, things would have been totally different we managed to get our way.

Philadelphia Comicon Baby!

Fri May 31, 2013, 6:55 AM
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Sorry about not updating for a while, been busy. I'll be back on duty soon enough as soon as I finish my 4 day pass into the Philadelphia comicon! Woohoo! Anybody else going down there?

Anyhoo, I managed to create up a Minecraft Steve helmet for me to cosplay as (although it seemed kinda pointless considering a bunch of people were selling minecraft Steve masks already, oh well XD) and it actually worked out pretty well. Got a bunch of people who wanted to take a picture with me. Although I gotta say, its a bitch to see out the eye holes, no depth perception whatsoever, so I had to watch were I step all the time   X3

I'm hoping to get me some Pony and Transformer swag, so hopefully I get some really good ones. If anybody else is going, come on down! Geek out and have you some fun!

Lets do some $10 commisions!

Fri Feb 22, 2013, 11:10 PM

Ok, I feel like doing some $10 commissions, anybody interested?

I do pony or otherwise, OCs or cannon, all on a simple background. One character at a time, with any additional characters added in at $5. It would look something like this:

Pinkie Pie and Tiny Tina Partay Funday by Inspectornills

So, if anybody out there is interested, send me a note and lets get this ball rolling.

If you are a brony, then you heard recently that MLP: Fighting is Magic just got canned because Hasbro sent a cease and desist order to the Mane6 team. I felt pretty bad that that had to happen, especially for such a polished looking game. It had a lot going for it, however, Mane6 made one fatal error that doomed the game, they made it too close to the actual copywritten material. Now, I for one would have loved to splay the game, jhowever, Mane6 approached this all wrong, and I can attribute this to how young this fandom is. What we should have done was look to another fandom...

The transformers fans have always loved some of their older G1 figures, but wish that there were better version or remakes of them. Now, they can only wait on Hasbro to finally make these, or they can make these figures themselves, thus transformers fan projects was born. There are numerous transformers fan projects out there that make grade-A toys based on licensed Hasbro figures, and even sell these figures, something that I'm sure even Hasbro will have a fit over and will be throwing out numerous cease and desist orders everywhere, and yet they don't. These fan projects are still around and making money, and its all because of the round-a-bout way go about making these fan-made figures. These toys are completely new, made from scratch and not based on any existing mold of what the toy is supposed to represent, hell, they even give them names that vaguely represents who they are supposed to be. I've seen a fan-made Devastator toy selling for around $500, and this toy is no joke, the amount of detail and effort put into these things is astounding. And its huge too! Almost 3-4 feet high! I bet even Hasbro would never think to make such a toy, but the fans did, and they will pay out the nose to get them.

Now, what does this have to do with MLP: fighting is magic? Its very simple, the game has to cut its ties with MLP, but not completely. Its still gonna be a game about ponies fighting, but all the characters, any references to the show, has to be changed to all new characters, but will still fight and feel the same way based on who they were originally based on. Twilight Sparkle will get a new name and a new coat of paint like Nightspark or something like that, MLP will have to be changed into something else like Fighting Ponies or Pony fighters or something along that line and all backgrounds will have to be changed to something completely new. Sadly, that would mean no fighting in Sweet Apple Acres, but it must represent, in spirit, what Sweet Apple Acres would be like in that game. Fact of the matter is, Transformer fans and bronies are a lot alike, we make a lot of fan-made stuff all the time, and I think its time we approach this, and all other future fan projects in a similar vein. We have to tread carefully when it comes to playing around with copywritten material, especially if its something that would turn a lot of heads, we just have to make sure we don't turn the wrong heads in our direction.

Goodbye G4TV

Thu Jan 24, 2013, 11:23 AM
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I swear, everything is feeling a little darker as the years go on. G4TV is now dead. No more Xplay or AOTS (don't really watch that show as much compared to Xplay but still had some good stuff in it). Those and ninja warrior were the only things I ever watch on that channel, because most of the time it will be Cops or Cheaters. Well, not anymore, from now, the channel will be a channel for metrosexuals! Yes, it will be a channel about travel, shopping and grooming tips for the young hip man on the go instead of a geek tv channel. Esquire channel. Wow. That is not what I want to see on my TV. I hardly watch TV nowadays because everything is just not as interesting as it used to be.

I used to watch sitcoms, actions shows, detective shows, science fiction shows, history and science shows, but now, every channel I feel are losing their way. I loved watching the science channel, history channel or discovery channel because they always had something interesting to talk about, but I guess their running out of ideas because now they have so many different auction shows or pawn shop shows and other reality tv shows that are just not interesting to watch. I used to watch Deadliest Catch and the one where a family digs for gold to escape destitution, but those aren't around anymore. Sitcoms just don't seem as good anymore, but maybe I'm just getting old and a lot more interesting things are on the net nowadays. CSI and Law and Order where fun, but nowadays crime dramas usually have some sort of weird hook like having a genius that can calculate crime probabilities or something or other, but I always felt the old stuff felt more honest. Scifi (or SYFY, soooo stupid) had some interesting scifi shows, but nowadays, not so much, and wrestling? Is wrestling considered scifi? Not only that, they have their own auction show and ghost hunters, which used to be good, but after a while, got really boring. I'd rather watch Ghost Adventures, even if I felt that these guys overreact, which is hilarious sometimes.

Well, that was a downer. Here's hoping that these channels know what they are doing =3
