Great work on Hal's design, looks badass. Nice touch with the gray hairs too.

Personally I always thought that it was a nice touch. A welcome change of pace having a "mature" hero as opposed to all the teenagers (and early teens at that) that are being served up. It was nice to see a sign of a little "maturity" and "experience, as I think only Reed (Mr Fantastic) Richards has a similar look.

But then they were and erased it all with that Parallax explanation.

Yeah, before the retcon it was kinda neat. Still, I dunno if Hal was the guy to do it with, at least not at that point in his history. I mean, he wasn't even that old, was he? They always seemed to depict him as somewhat youthful. I'd say early 30s at most. Then again I'm 34 and I've had a few silver hairs show up on my temples from time to time (ya wear a yellow ring ONCE and you regret it for the rest of your life, lol!). Heh... I was kinda hoping the whole thing would go Steve Martin white before my 30th birthday. But I'd still have these thick brown eyebrows and it'd probably look terrible.

I had always considered GL (Jordan and for that matter Steward) to be one of the older heroes. Jordan was easily mid maybe even late 30's maybe even early 40's (thinking of US astronauts). He was also retired / discharged / dismissed - depending on origin, USAF. If you go with the story that makes him a contemporary or maybe a year or two older than Batman, that would still place him around 30. Jordan was also enjoyed long careers as test pilot (most have him earning way to top level, vs rookie status shown in that mini series), sales (toys), trucker, and an implied few years misc when he came back to life. He was turned down by a bank for a loan due to not apparently holding regular job for in recent memory and having a large "gap" in his personal history) Steward may be a few years younger, especially if you know his original JLA Christmas story intro. Given his expanded college grad, US Marine sniper background, that would still place him either late 20's early 30's. Again, he's about as old as Batman, and maybe just slightly younger than Hal.

That story that explained away the gray, claiming it was due to Parallax, stated he was going prematurely gray. More evidence to early/mid 30's

As for yellow rings, they can't be that scary. I mean The Batman actually scared one. See you just put in on and.... and.....    AAAAAAAHHHHHH!
