Devil's Punch Bowl 2012 by insanity-pillz Devil's Punch Bowl 2012 by insanity-pillz
Location: Hamilton Mountain, ON
Camera Used: Nikon

Hamilton, being positioned along the Niagara Escarpment, is home to many waterfalls that drape over limestone, sandstone and shale deposits. Here is one of the waterfalls, the Devil's Punch Bowl. It's not really known for the water pouring down it (I mean, look at that little tinkle of water) but the water erosion around it. It's about 37 metres deep and the water pouring down the falls depends on the amount of rainfall that has occurred.
This was taken from the side of the escarpment facing the waterfall. It's been a dry autumn that year so the water is very tiny compared to some other days. This way, it's easier to see how the soil deposits separate from each other. This was taken before a storm flew by, which got rid of a lot of leaves on the trees. So I'm glad that I took this before the rain came in.
