This is why I hate sketching at school as well. I'm one of the few 'art kids' at my school, so if someone sees me, doesn't know me and I'm sketching then oh boi! I just want to punch someone. I don't want you to see my drawings of furries and shit, thank you very much.
Yeah exactly! Now most of my friends at school are artists so that only happened at school once when a group of kids just gathered around me and stared asking a bunch of questions. One girl asked, "Is that anime?" and before I said anything her friend said, "No idiot. It's obviously not." So, yeah that happened. It actually happens more with my family more than anything. Every time I say that they can't look through my sketchbook they say, "Why? You're so good at drawing!" And I tell them, well it's like my diary, it's very personal to me. And then they say, "It's just full of cartoon characters what's so personal about that?" Then I get the backlash from my parents with them saying I should show them anyway and that it is rude not too. Well, it's more rude to look through someone's belongings when they have already told you 'no'. Whoop!
