Not hard to see why this got a DD - imo the best aspect of photography is that it takes everyday scenes and, through the elements of composition/lighting/depth of field/etc, highlights features that we may not ordinarily notice or pay much attention to. For instance, the reddish tops of the mushrooms - within this earthy, restrained palette, they stand out particularly well, as do the ruffled edges of the mushrooms themselves. The depth of field you've chosen for this image really helps bring out those elements, while allowing us to appreciate the broader scene - this isn't a studio shot, and the contrasting texture and dark colors of the wood really helps the mushrooms pop.

I don't know that I'm totally sold on the blades of grass in front or the mild bokeh behind - although I love the dark green colors and the defocus - but hey, that's nature. I certainly prefer it to the clone brush tool.

First of all congratulations on your well-deserved DD. I love how you have even captured the lamella of one of the mushrooms, so that the observer can see how it looks from below. They all are growing from something dead and it is great symbolism to see that they are sprouting out of a piece of dead wood. I like how the front mushrooms are more detailed and the ones farther in the back dwindle away. The blurred green background is a nice touch of colour. Also I love the technique of Bokeh you have applied. These light touches brighten up the photography a bit more.

Overall, this is a great APN-photography. Keep up that good work!

Congratulations on a much deserved Daily Deviation today! This is such a wonderful capture, I really like all these tiny little mushrooms growing out of that tree. Their colour also contrasts very nicely against the dark bark of the rotting tree. All the way in the back though, there is one that's gotten part of its hat cut off, which I think could've done with a bit more space. The cut off hat gives the composition a bit of a strange ending, if that makes sense. All in all, this is a great shot, and definitely worthy of a DD! I'm really loving the background colours, the green also creates a nice contrast. The light is also very lovely, adding some sweet highlights to the mushrooms! Good work, and congrats again!

Remarkable photograph! It has a mysterious quality to it that is accentuated by the color tones and the narrow focus range.
