(Please ignore the stars, I literally went with whatever my touchscreen hit)
Not hard to see why this got a DD - imo the best aspect of photography is that it takes everyday scenes and, through the elements of composition/lighting/depth of field/etc, highlights features that we may not ordinarily notice or pay much attention to. For instance, the reddish tops of the mushrooms - within this earthy, restrained palette, they stand out particularly well, as do the ruffled edges of the mushrooms themselves. The depth of field you've chosen for this image really helps bring out those elements, while allowing us to appreciate the broader scene - this isn't a studio shot, and the contrasting texture and dark colors of the wood really helps the mushrooms pop.
I don't know that I'm totally sold on the blades of grass in front or the mild bokeh behind - although I love the dark green colors and the defocus - but hey, that's nature. I certainly prefer it to the clone brush tool.
