Using Mangastudio\'s 3D models to get poses (correctly). Would you consider this cheating if you got a commission that was made by using this?

Yes, artists should make the image 100% on their own

No, it's just like referencing and something that will make the artist improve and most likely happier about the end result

A+ to us.
But there is seriously nothing wrong with doing that.

I cant see how using a pose is cheating. All of the 'posing' photos that people upload, they exist for the same reason manga studio made the pose models. But, manga studio also gave you the ability to edit and move those models around so it's like you have one of those little wooden pose figures on your desk, but its in your art program instead. How is using a 3d computer model different from using a 3d wooden model?

If youre worried people will think your just tracing and give you a hard time for that then move your model over to a different window and use it for a reference separate from your working window. But regardless of what you do i dont think that counts as cheating.

Yea I agree, I don't see it as cheating either
It's just like taking a picture of a wooden doll and using it as well.

I'm not exactly worried since I don't really use the program for commissions (yay for never getting human commissions lmfao) but more for personal artwork where i'd trace the outline/make circles and stuff for the basic proportions and then edit it to my own characters etc.

I'm mostly just curious what people think of it itself, considering the entire program was initially for the entire manga making and thus the models would be used in that as well etc uvu''

I wouldn't trace it, but only referencing from it is totally okay I guess xD

I never really use it in commissions and such but I use it for personal artwork where I trace the outlines or make the basic proportions and then edit it to my own characters
it helps a lot anatomy wise uvu

I don't really see it as cheating but I was wondering what other people's views on it would be kekek

Nah, not if it results in a better image. It's not good in the long run to constantly do it, but hopefully it will help improvement. :D

I actually think it'll be good in the long run because you learn how to pose the proportions of a human being in certain poses ;P
You can move the models around as much as you want so it gets fun trying to make it into weird poses and then draw from it

Of course, it's more like training wheels on a bike
One day you'll have to stop from using it but until that day comes it's good practice

I still haven't downloaded Mangastudio, I might do it now, since I suck so bad at human anatomy and perspective, etc.
Omfg, that'd be fun. hue hue.
It sounds good ye, I get what you mean now. Thumbs Up

I dont feel like learning a new program so I'm sticking with SAI but occassionally I just go there to fuck with the models
