Brain Chip by imagnum Brain Chip by imagnum
I saw the basic idea centuries ago as a simple clipart cartoon. So finaly I tried to find out how it would look in the real world. Well, here it is..

For the backdrop image I've chosen a photograph by courtesy of Huck Naz [link] Thanks a lot for providing this pic. It's amazing!

Modelled with Blender 2.41; rendered with Yafray 0.0.8-2; postprocessing with Gimp 2.2

:D Thank you!

That technology supportedly works on very low clock rates (I've read something about kilohertz range), but it beats any kind of artificial intelligence ;)

:D it's rather designed to fight the lack of intelligence amongst human mankind. I'm not sure if a machine would accept those chips without complications ;)

Yeah, but whose brain are you putting on the chip... Albert Einstein or Jack Black. You could get big performance issues!

As always in life it depends on what you pay for it :D

And it will be no issue as long as you use your own brain. ;)

Great image! Is the brain a NURBS or a polygon mesh?

:) Thank you!

The brain was made with a bunch of NURBS curves and afterwards converted to a mesh to fix some minor flaws (smoothing the angles, getting rid of the joints, etc).

I was looking for a hack to lay something like a transparent rubber skin over the model to simulate some liquor filled in the creases and thus make 'em looking a bit smoother. But I didn't find a solution to achieve it. So it has to look alike a brain without that finish. :D
