I do not take public commissions so please do not contact me for work.
I plan on archiving all my old artwork (both fanart, original and past commissions) at my website as a huge collection of my work over the years. Please wait for that while I get back to building my main website.
*NOTE: The above links are official. Please do not follow fake accounts, buy my work from illegal resellers or upload my work to other places.

Thank you so so much to everyone who has supported me in my 13 years here on Deviant Art. Best of luck with your own projects, keep dreaming and drawing
Heads up! I'm going to be shutting down my two DeviantArt accounts tomorrow :iconimagni: :iconastrima:, so if you need to save any of my old old fanart for personal use then you have until 9am tomorrow (GMT). My Astrima account shut down years ago but i left my art archived there. I'm not really comfy with having my super old art on this type of open website anymore, i'd rather move it all to my website as an archive. So after 13 years of good and bad memories I'll be removing my art from there entirely. I wont *close* my account names but I'll leave a list of links that my art can be found at instead. Because there is NOTHING worse than trying to find an old artist online and they don't leave links or change their name 80000 times. So yeah. Got tired of uploading here and watching the site go down the pan over time. It was fantastic while it lasted but it just feels a tad Myspacey now and any sort of meaningful 'I'm leaving!' journal would be read by about 3 active people *lol*. Most of you follow me on other sites anyway, so i'm just giving myself one less place to upload to XD And don't worry, I wont be returning 3 weeks later, that's not my style, I'm too lazy :p
In 13 years I've only closed my account once, and that was to open a new one for Engelbaum. I've also never changed my name :D So i'd like to think that's some kind of record around here *lol*
Also note that the links I leave behind on the closing journal will be the only OFFICIAL places to find my work. Anywhere else is just a fake account pretending to be me or using my stuff without permission. So just pay attention to my links for proper content :)
Save your old favs now or forever wait a decade until I get around to reuploading them to my actual website (which will eventually happen, just not priority right now).
Thank you to everyone who i've met through DA for supporting my art for so many years. Very very appreciated <3

Keep drawing what matters to you!
May as well post this here too.

I've been seeing a LOT of people get down about their art recently and I want to give you all an artmom spanking! *ooh kinky* But seriously though, everything you're feeling is something that most other artists have been through too.

You are NOT the worst person in the world for feeling something. Art is about feeling stuff. Thats the main fucking lifeblood of art. You are not a failure, you are not wasting time, you are not terrible compared to other artists, you are not too slow, you are not worth your weight in facebook likes or senpai validation, you are NOT supposed to be on some kind of talent podium depending on your age, the amount of books you have out does not make you a better artist, 2 people supporting your Patreon does not mean you've failed or your work has no value, you might even draw shit hands like me- but damn you are an artist. There is no perfect way to be an artist. Even those guys who are making lots of money are not perfect. They screw up and are stressed to fuck dealing with deadlines, no social lives and having to deflect harsh and rude critique every other day that keeps them awake at night. Art is not some destination you reach. It's allllll gonna be like this. Just learn to understand feeling bad is okay, but don't let it convince you that you're worthless or to stop trying to be the best artist YOU can be.

That shit makes me grumpy >.< Art is fucking HARD and the better you get at it the harder it gets. Accept that now and your life will be a lot less hatey I promise. We're all in a school learning, but there is no graduation day folks, sorry :B

Everyone! I'm having an open art stream from now until X'Oclock (until i finish coloring) on a page of the upcoming London ComicCon comic village collab project: Project Autumn. It's a really nifty project I'm working on with publisher BRAMBLETYNE along with some talented familiar faces of the UK comic scene. Don't worry, the page is spoiler free and minus speech bubbles, so if you'd like to see me concentrate the hell out of my coloring then please drop in! This comic will be in print and available to buy soon, more details nearer the time.
Here's the link for my art stream, it'll be online in a moment after i'm done spamming this link everywhere  lol

Just a heads up that my PC finally bit the dust 16 days ago so I've been stuck on my laptop/phone unable to do any work since then. My new PC is being built this Thursday (i hope) (The PC shop keep pushing it back). I'm unable to use my tablet or art programs until I get the new PC so I'm flopping about uninspired and generally pissed off until then. Engelbaum wont have any updates until I can make new pages and get a week buffer back at least (for my Patreons). So just hang in there, I've not abandoned the art, PC abandoned life XD; ffffff. I'm so fucking bored. Trying to work on other stuff to keep myself busy until then. Last week was me being 100% lazy and lounging in bed reading comics and resting my arm, which i needed to do anyway since i screwed it up from overworking in Jan. Also I went to see Deadpool which was awesome (go see it).

You don't realise how much you depend on your workstation to do every day life things until it's not there o_o
My guy DiGi's most recent show is on Bayonetta and I know a ton of you are fans (including myself), so go check out his character review show :)
If you like his stuff then be sure to subscribe >u< Your favourite character might be next!

I just realised its the first of the month and the easiest time to jump up ranks on the webcomic list rankings page. Let's try get Engelbaum into the top 30 or 20 even if just for a day! lol
Please click vote on this link: topwebcomics.com/vote/19790/de…

Also two more things!
1. I am very behind on replies to wonderful gifts that were sent my way both online and offline over the holidays. I AM TRASH. XD; But i'm trying to catch up now!!
2. The next public page upload of Engelbaum is on the 8th i'm afraid because I can't tell you how hard it is to finish a page with 3 main holidays in the way in the space of a week :| Also I have to do my tax filing this week so excuse the bumpy start to the year.

I hope you all had a FANTASTIC (and hangover free) new year
Love you guys! Lets make 2016 a great, productive and fun year for art!

TWC voting- Thank you!!

Aaaaa I'm so happy! Today my comic Engelbaum is ranking 59 on TopWebComics :D Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who clicked vote, you've really helped more people see my work as it moves further up the list. Incidentally if you run a webcomic you should really register it there so people can find it. The voting closes in 4 days, and I don't think its possible to reach the top 50 in that time, but you can still vote here to help push it along: topwebcomics.com/vote/19790/de…   Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

Comic Con - Thank you!

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 27, 2015, 3:01 AM

Thanks to everyone who came to say hello at Comic Con! It was really great getting to meet you all, as always. I mean the internet is a cool place but being able to talk to people face to face is nice. Thank you for the fanart, the feedback and the hugs! Next time around I'm hoping to have some Engelbaum stuff for sale if I manage to make May's MCM. Sorry I ran out of all my Engelbaum leaflets so quickly XD;; We sold a ton of Far From Faith comics and it was really cool to hear peoples opinions and feedback on the story since everyones read it since the launch now.
It's always super draining after a big convention (MCM is the UK's largest) so the rest of the month is going to be spent finishing Octobers new Engelbaum pages.

You guys are lovely, aaaaa!

London MCM

Journal Entry: Thu Oct 22, 2015, 3:22 PM

Just a heads up that i'll be at MCM London Tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday! I'll be at table K1 in comic village with awesome publisher BRAMBLETYNE selling comic books and possibly chibi portraits if I can get over my horrible phobia of drawing in public XD;; (Seriously it's so hard!). I really zone out when i work so being in a busy place is difficult. But i'll try :3  I've been doing London MCM for a couple of years now and it's always my favourite thing to do. Being around other creatives is so lovely and inspiring when art is such a solitary thing.
Hope to see some of you there! ^u^

Video: about my characters - The Creators

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 19, 2015, 2:15 PM

Here's a video I done recently of me talking about my comic characters, The Creators. Imagni, Unusti, Gala, Pi, all those guys. Just stuff that was on my mind and nothing too spoilery for the main comic. I'm going to do another one soon about the Gens, then the Numeratti and so on. So if you want to learn a little more about my thought process on my characters personalities then check this out:

The best Engelbaum video ever

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 16, 2015, 3:00 PM

I love my comic's fandom so fucking HARD. They're all as batshit as me. And that's great. This is a video stream from a few weeks back where I wandered into a group chat on Picarto to the greatest rewriting in history of Engelbaum. The MAGICAL AND PERFECT BALLAD OF PRINCESS SPARKLE RAINBOW SPARKLE RAVEN RAINBOW HEART  THE UNTOLD TALE.

I laughed so hard i cried. I think we lost a few of the chat members to laughter.
Thank you for murdering my story guys. It was beautiful.

Hey did i show you guys this before?

Journal Entry: Wed Sep 9, 2015, 5:50 AM

I know i've shared this a ton of times on Facebook/Tumblr since i started making it a few months ago, but i'm not sure if i showed it on DA to people who only watch Engelbaum stuff here. Basically for fun I was putting together a little Engelbaum animation showing off the overall story arc of the comic because the first time I heard the song, the lyrics matched up so perfectly i had to scribble it down. Right now its just doodle thumbnails (VERY VERY MESSY) lol but over the course of the year I'm going to finish the thumbnails for the end of the animation, then work on actually properly animating it by hand, not with flash or anything. Basically if Engelbaum was a movie this is something of what the trailer would be like in my brain. Anyways, enjoy the HYPE :D It always keeps me inspired. The end blank part of the video will feature a lot of the Gens, which is why it's currently unfinished because I have some realm stuff to iron out first X) But yeah just imagine epic fighto scenes at the end of each realm and everyone using their Tone powers and stuff against the Numeratti.

Anyone here use Tapastic for comics?

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 4, 2015, 3:55 PM

I decided to join up to Tapastic as a way of bringing in new readers to Engelbaum. I was wondering if any of you have your comics on there because I want new things to subscribe to :) Here's my Tapastic page here:
tapastic.com/series/Engelbaum

All subscribes and likes veeeeery welcome. I've been browsing around on there and there's some great comic creators on the site. I highly recommend checking it out. Plus the phone app is nice too :3 Also little bits of ad-rev for extra monies is never a bad thing. So yeah, i'll also be uploading my public release pages there now too.

Art streaming funs

Journal Entry: Wed Aug 19, 2015, 7:06 AM

I sat and done a 10 hour art stream for my Patreon crowd yesterday. I got two full pages of the comic inked and tidied for coloring today. I get a lot of questions on DA about how i make my comics, so watching me work live is probably the best way to learn. I have a bunch of pages that will be online next week but i'm trying something different this month, doing things in stages/batches, rather than one page at a time then upload. If you want to watch me make comics stage by stage then join up to my Patreon by clicking the orange banner above.  I'll be streaming again tonight at 9PM(GMT) to work on flats and inking. Lets all work at the same time and keep eachother motivated and focused!

DA birthday questionaire

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 3, 2015, 7:55 AM

  • How long have you been on DeviantArt?  TWELVE YEARS D: ... mother of god (between this account and my old one)
  • What does your username mean? It's the name of the main character from my comic Engelbaum. My old account was the name of my Gen, Astrima. Also an Engelbaum thing.
  • Describe yourself in three words.  Colorful. Sleepy. Glitterbeast.
  • Are you left or right handed? Right handed.
  • What was your first deviation? I'm not actually sure what the very first thing I uploaded to DA was. But going by the dates I think it might have been this, though i think this was a resub: <da:thumb id="3729417"/>
aaaa so cringy now, lol. Clearly I had just been given access to lense flares. I remember drawing this when i lived in America. I was painting the full spectrum of old Gens at that point. Olllld.

  • What is your favourite type of art to create? Character relationships. Stuff that makes both me and the viewer feel something for the character and their interactions. I'm more into digital art these days purely for the fact I have no space to store traditional art until i get studio space. I want to try a lot of new things this year.
  • If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? I'd like to be a way better graphic designer tbh. I like simplicity but I'm bad at it. Really bad. I admire people who can make text and shapes look slick and exciting.
  • What was your first favourite? *searches* A lovely fanart of my Gen character Orange :) I remember being so happy that someone would take the time to draw one of my characters. Thousands of fanarts later I still appreciate each and every single one. Regardless of the artists experience or how well known they are. All art matters to me.
      icky icky by kokoro
  • What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? I seem to like a lot of tutorials that i fave with the intention of using them. Then never go back to them >__>;;
  • Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? I honestly can't pick a favourite after so many years. I know that sounds cliche but there have been certain artsts from different areas of my art journey that have really inspired me and pushed me onwards for different things. Over the years people have come and gone but i know that somewhere theyre still out there making things and that makes me happy. I keep discovering new inspirations and making new friends. Its always a good idea to have a number of influences rather than just one person I think. That way you learn more overall.
  • If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? Again, I can't pick one. I'm actually really lucky to have met a ton of you in person already. I'm not the most super-outgoing person and can be a bit quiet and awkward (hey i'm an artist) but I LOVE meeting people. Especially people who know, understand or remember bits of my art (sometimes even better than I do). That always really humbles me. I always end up just wanting to hug people like a creepy lameass, lol. So yeah, be warned. I want to meet people who care about Engelbaum.
  • How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? DiGi counts right? XD He's on DA. He impacted my life by trading me chocolate milk for washing the dishes tonight.
  • What are your preferred tools to create art? Currently Manga Studio 5 and my cintiq 13HD.
  • What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? The places that inspire me are never the places i sit to draw. I get distracted by visuals when i draw.  I prefer to absorb all i can, then return to my room and focus on putting it on paper. I'm not great at relaxing outdoors. I always feel oddly rushed.
  • What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? When i recently uploaded the newest page of Engelbaum after a 2 year gap. That felt fucking triumphant to me.
