Admins wanted!Hi there everyone!
Thanks for hanging in there... Unfortunately we are still in need of some new admins due to the amount of submissions to the group. The admins that are left can't do the job by themselves.
We are looking for admins that are:
Competent to that extent that you can give good feedback
Motivated to help other deviants improve their work
Dedicated to spending a little bit of your spare time contributing to this group
Polite to members and other admins
I hope some of our members now will consider joining our admin team We really need all the help we can get. Don't be shy, please send us a personal note - we will read and consider every note. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your experience and why you want to contribute.
We really want this group to be more up and running. Please let us know if you are interested in helping us.
Good news, everyone! You can now submit 2 photos per week! It takes 4 votes for your photos to be accepted or declined.
Keep up the good work!
WE ARE STILL ALIVE. BARELY. ADMINS WANTED!Hello fellow deviants!
We're in some deep trouble.
As you may have noticed, this group's slowly dying of stagnancy and we need some fresh breeze!
The admin team is on its knees because of too many submissions and to be honest, there's only 2-3 people voting, so they can't do everything by themselves.
What we need right now are competent people who have the time and motivation to help out other photographers and would like to join our team.
If you feel like you could do this and would like help us create a new dynamic team of admins, send us a note and introduce yourself a little. It can be a one simple sentence introduction, if you don't feel like it.
Every note will be read and considered so don't be shy.
I understand the frustration with submissions is growing daily, but with your help, we could get back on our feet again and showcase your art as soon as you post it, give you critiques and help you with our advice, (maybe even) organize some competitions!

Groupon Sued for Using Instagram Photos....Groupon Sued for Using Instagram Photos Without Permission
Groupon is being hit with a class action lawsuit that claims the deals company has repeatedly used Instagram photos without permission from the photographers.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the suit was filed yesterday by a photographer named Christine Dancel in the Illinois Cook County Circuit Court. Dancel says she shot a photo of herself at a restaurant last Summer and shared the tagged photo on Instagram. Soon after, she found that the Chicago-based Groupon had used her photo in a deal offer for that same restaurant.
The suit claims that over 1,000 Instagram photographers have had their photos stolen in an identical way as “a core part of Groupon’s advertising strategy.”
“Groupon intentionally creates the false impression that the consumers appearing in the photos are endorsi

Photography learning resources on InternetOne (and sometimes overlooked part) of developing yourself as a photographer is to study photography. "You can't learn to photograph by reading" is a half-truth, or at least understood wrongly quite often. While you need to photograph to learn to photograph, studying at least the basics is usually the best thing to do, especially at the beginning. This gives you strong foundation to build your skills. While books are a good source, Internet contains a wealth of knowledge for free.
Personally I started photography about a year ago from somewhat zero and I have found studying stuff from internet to be a great help, along with books and magazines. I've gathered here some websites that I've been using myself that I find beneficial or have found while trying to help other people and finding good links for them (I've been gathering these slowly during last year while learning myself). There are some basic guides and something a bit more advanced. Hope you can find something beneficial from h

Something big is coming!!!
I have seen many storms in my life. Most storms have caught me by surprise, so I had to learn very quickly to look further and understand that I am not capable of controlling the weather, to exercise the art of patience and to respect the fury of natur

Free Avatars: Goth and EmoWe put it to a vote, and according to this poll most people wanted us to feature dA's Goth & Emo avatars. This article features all of the FREE avatars submitted to the FreeAvatarProject during the month of March 2010. Other free avatars are included here also because they're fun works of 50x50 goth/emo art too!
About Stereotypes: Some stereotypes are little more than an exaggeration of a certain set of characteristics. They become kind of like cultural caricatures of an extreme type, often used in art as a sign of the times within society. This article is just for fun; please don't take the following generalizations too seriously. These features are meant to pay tribute to dA's Goth and Emo art and artists.
Background: In terms of both music and fashion, Emo and Goth are the subcultures that resulted from the Post-Punk Rockers in the 1970s. These modern day "punks" commonly seem to be misun

Conceptualising - First Article
Before I begin I would like to say that this is my thought process and ways of conceptualising images and ideas. You do not have to follow everything I say as these are guidelines to help you along the way and many other artists will have different ways and ideologies. With more experience concepts are easier to execute.
WHAT DOES CONCEPTUAL MEAN?
Well basically it's about an idea(s), thought(s) or feeling(s). Resolving or portraying them from your creative mind as best as you can make it your concept. A

Severus Snape FeaturesId like to thank all the Snape and Harry Potter artists whose the dedication, vision and talent have inspired me for years: Snapesforte, MARiKaArt, TomScribble, Veronika-Art, perselus, inkvine, firefly-wp , katigerclaw, Patilda and many others. I unfortunately could not feature them all here ... I would like to have included hueco-mundo, gerre, carthasis, obfuscatesart, wandarer3, kissyushka, play-it-snufkin, protowilson, ildi, chicxulub, laerry, liquidscissors, lizard-spots and many different dedicated fans and artists...
Naturally, only a few Snape and HP fanartists have been DD'd, while so many others remain without much exposure. This is why I'm sorry not to have found the time a week ago, when there were more HP fans online, but better late than never... And its Potter Day on Sunday...
So, here are only a handful of the many fanarts that left a mark in my
