Providence II class

The Providence II Class Carrier / Destroyer is a modernized version of the original Providence class.

In the late months of the clone wars, the Republic's advantage in shipbuilding capacity, combined with it's superior ship classes, led the C.I.S to look for alternative ship designs that could compete with the Republic Venators.

The original Providences served under the carrier role, but were under armed for its size, and the exposed control towers were an easy target for enemy starfighters.

With this in mind the Confederacy started to construct a more well armed version of the Providence, with less weak spots and more powerfull armament.

It had 1 heavy turbolaser cannon on the front, 43 dual medium turbolaser turrents, 4 heavy ion cannons and 30 point defense laser canons.
The shields were on par with those of the Venator class, and it could carry 120 Vulture-class droid fighters, 120 Droid tri-fighters and hundreds of droid armored vehicles.

Construction stoped after a Republic attack on the Neimoidian shipyards.
In the end of the war, the newly formed Empire scraped the ship at 75% completion.
