Objet d'Art by Ben R "Hey, Larry, you can mark down another one." Larry glanced up from his computer monitor.   "Really," he said, with only the faintest touch of surprise.   "So what is it this time?   A Dyson sphere?   A ringworld?   Maybe a pyramidal planet or a toroidal star?" Arthur lifted his eyes from the scanner hood.   "Nah, it's another one of those Dyson ladders.   Looks like a new type, too." Larry raised an eyebrow.   "Ah, and what's it shaped like this time?" His co-worker looked back to his instrumentation.   "I'd say...   A bit like a Buckyball molecule.   Or a soccer ball, whichever you prefer." "Ah, so a cage made up of br

Twitch Creative Stream Feb. 17, 2018

Twitch Creative Stream Feb. 17, 2018

Update: Stream over, check out below for more details. So... Decided to try setting up an art stream on Twitch. I am planning on streaming tomorrow (Saturday February 17, 2018) at 4:00 PM Pacific Standard Time if anyone wants to stop by and watch me draw. It'll likely be semi-instructional, since I'll be having a few friends watching who want to learn some of my techniques, but I hope to have a bit of fun. n.n My Twitch channel is located here: https://www.twitch.tv/illogictree I will see about posting the stream to YouTube afterwards. Update: Finished the stream and uploaded the archive to YouTube. It's really, um, rough. View it here:

Now offering $10 Sketch Commissions

Update! Good news everyone, I got a proper tablet for my computer! Sketch commissions will now no longer be scanned pencil drawings but will be digital sketches. Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I used this journal, I guess. Anyway, I've decided to dip my toes into the art commission waters. I am offering sketch commissions at $10.00 CAD apiece, and I have opened 10 commission slots to begin with. Additional slots may open once the first round is completed. PM me to negotiate details. Terms and conditions straight up: -I only have PayPal to accept payment right now. Sorry. -I'm willing to do characters, creatures & monsters,

Uh oh

Uh oh

So I totally failed at updating my journal more than once a year.   So sue me :P So what's new with me? I've started playing tabletop RPGs - can't believe I haven't done so earlier, I have a really good time doing it.   Currently I'm still in my first Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition campaign, where I'm playing two characters (due to our number of players being reduced to two) - a half-elf ranger named Sogen and his estranged twin sister Serra, a cleric/fighter.   (The backstory there is a bit complicated) Also, I've tried my hand at GMing a Pathfinder game or two, but I'm having trouble finding days when all my players can get together so t

Thanks for the kind comments.

I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of pointers for you, except that your main problem at this point is your lack of perspective - all your drawings look very flat and have no depth. I'm afraid I don't have any easy tips, since I learned about perspective mainly from experimentation and practice. My usual advice is to start practicing perspective with cubes and prisms, simple shapes you can later build up into more complex forms. And keep practicing, that's what's important. :) Don't give up because it's not turning out right, figure out what's wrong and find out how to fix it.

Good luck!
