Burnside Project - MODEL by illmatic1 Burnside Project - MODEL by illmatic1
This is the model I built for the Burnside Community Center Project I designed. Model started off really great, I was taking my time and trying to really finely tune the craft - considering this was my first extensive model I have ever attempted or built. On many of my projects, models are more last minute or second to the drawings/renderings for myself, however my studio professor wanted this model to be a big part of the presentation, so I tried my best. Well, as I was saying... the model started off great but as time started dwindling away I could see I was beginning to cut corners - PLUS with lack of sleep my craft was going to go down dramatically anyways. The model itself is made of basswood, lexan, cresant board, foam core, and was glued using good ole' tacky. All in all, it was a 2-3 week model, I wish I had more time... if I did, it would have really been golden! Thx for looking!

Btw, my camera (fujifilm f10) was stolen... so I had to make due with an older digicam of mine. so thats why the pictures aren't the greatest. REALLY ANGRY about it, but oh well life goes on and now I am looking at getting a rebel xt ;)

Burnside Project - MODEL by ~illmatic1 Architectural Design is a rather new category for Artisan Crafts, but it shouldn't be overlooked. This architectural model is awesome! ( Featured by ohnojaylo )

This is so cool! I'm actually working on some designs for buildings and events that have historical or architectural value from different countries or time periods, like the writing of the Constitution for America and Tenochtitlan from the time of the Aztecs. Just my models don't really have a point, except for I like history and architecture and artisan crafts. Great job, I think it looks amazing.

Sorry about your camera. Sounds like you got your eye on a pretty darn nice camera though. I don't know much about cameras, but I'm guessing the rebel xt is better than the fujifilm f10.

Thanks very much... don't worry, if you give your model 2-3 weeks too, you can get that level of detail... just remember to be patient and clean (and not sleepy always helps too! haha)

HAha alrightie=D ive actually been studyin civil engineering for 1.5 years now and im thinking of changing to architecture cos i think il enjoy it a whole lot more. Any advise u can give me?=D

My first advise is to think LONG and HARD about it before you decide anything. Architecture is definitely a career that is definitely under-appreciated, where you will be putting in many (let me repeat... MANY) hours into for very little recognition or compensation (money in the real-world). However, if you feel the itching need to be imaginative and create something beyond what you do in Civil Engineering, then perhaps its not a bad idea at all. Just make sure you don't do anything rash or on a whim. Good luck!
