The Storyteller by Illahie The Storyteller by Illahie
It's a eurasian jay, telling stories to the moon :)

This piece is HUGE.. and most of the tiny knotwork is hardly visible.. sadly.. Not to mention that shrinking it down so bad removed all the clearness of all the individual feathering that is visible on the original

:iconazraeldarkangel540: Made a glorious poem to accompany this piece. I think every should pop over and read it, since it completes the story I'm trying to convey.

the poetry... the concept is absolutely amazing... the sublime beauty that exudes from it, the sense of peace makes me want to write.. Would you mind if I wrote a poem based on the Storyteller telling stories to the moon as portrayed by you?

Not at all! I've always felt this piece needed a story or a poem :)
So please, be my guest :) And when you've written something and
posted it here, be sure to send me a link so I can include it here
with this piece!

This is trully beautiful work, not only technically perfect but also capable of conveying emotions...

All of your works are of impressive quality and highly atmospheric but this one, I find, sums up prefectly everything that makes you so talented.

I only wish you could upload a bigger version-since the details suffer a lot from the compression- even if you had to watermark it...

So, as a viewer, you wouldn't mind a watermark being somewhere in return for a bigger image?

I know I wouldn't mind a watermark in the particular image if I were to appreciate its finer details more. Not that I like watermarks either but I guess you can't have everything ;)

Maybe this could be judged by you on a per-image basis. If you think, as the creator, that your effort is downplayed by the image-size factor then maybe you should opt for a watermarked bigger-size image. You could also watermark the image yourself in a way you see fit so that it both protects your work and doesn't distract too much from it, if you find the DA standard watermark not very subtle.
Just an idea :)

Thank you very much for your input! I've been debating watermarks and larger files for a long time now :)

I'll look into it for sure!

And thanks for the compliments!

In this particular picture it was done with normal watercolors, but on my illuminated pieces I use pigment powder, which I then burn with a iron to re-create that old look to it.

Thanks for the many kind comments!

Nice anthropomorphism on the Jay, it's sometimes hard to pull it off convincingly as you have here

Even if you lost a bunch of detail when you shrunk the image down for DA, it's still absolutely stunning. The details! The subdued color scheme! The border treatment! *happy sigh* :glomp: Simply stunning. I'm going to join the crowd of instant-favorites now... :-)

Although the picture is small in size here, you can certainly tell upon close inspection the amount of tiny detail that you've put into this. It's quite impressive and very well done. Nice work.

Beautiful piece. What's the media on this? I really want to see it in person! I especially love his expression... It looks like he's getting carried away by his own story :)
