Amaterasu in white wolf form, as the world sees her.
Someone in one of my art classes this term was using ink on glossy paper to create a very unusual and interesting effect. This is, vaguely, an attempt to recreate that in digital format, combined with the Okami style.
Really, I'm just trying to force myself to be more loose. Only half worked in that regard, but I did manage to make something pretty in only a couple of hours, which is good enough for me. :3
Edit: Moving this to the Okami Contest just for the hell of it. I might fix it up a bit (finally), but not until after I finish the new submission I'm working on for it...
Well, what I did was paint a big black line, then erase smaller lines from that, then and smaller black over that, until it looked like it had been made using a brush. It's mostly just going over the line multiple times until it looks like you want it to.
Wow. D: That is a -beautiful piece of art.- I love the color gradient from the sun to the rest of the piece, the richness of the colors and the starkness of the contrast of that beautiful white wolf against the crimson background. Especially with Ammy, the color is so crisp and bright; she reminds me of snow. <3
What I didn't notice on my first look was that the tree she's leaning against is the same ink she's been trailing, a wonderful little detail in my opinion. XD The difference in the texture is startling, contrasting sharply enough that they don't seem to be connected at first.
The brushstrokes, the colors, the detail...this is really a gorgeous piece. Lovely! <3
I only wish I'd made it. XD I just found it online. I've been using it for years. Glad you like it, though! Most of my friends say that staring at it for too long will let it steal your soul. ...or that it dances to their music. Either or. XD
this is very beautiful. i'm really not trying to criticyze, but i think there is room for improvement on the fur. i know that you are following the style of okami, but ammy kind of looks like a polar bear here.
it really is a good picture tho. love the ink trail & amaterasu's expression
