Hello, guys, it's been a while since I did a journal, but in 2020, there's going to be a few changes to how I monetize my work, and I want you all to be aware!
First and foremost: starting in 2020, I am closing private commissions forever!
Reason being: I don't like to do them, and I've never liked doing them! Commission work has never been my best work (despite client feedback), and the stress and worry around client expectations, payment processing and marketing just isn't worth my mental health. Unfortunately, there was a time in my life where I felt that was the only way I could make any profit off of my art, and art was the only means by which I was going to stay alive!
Nowadays, things are very different.
I'm 6 years out of college, I paid my student loans off in 2018, I have a steady day-job in technical writing (which, while not ideal, pays my bills). Gone are the days where I needed emergency commissions to pay rent, to cover impromptu medical bills, to cover repair
Nice art If you're ever looking to share your work with other people, live, you should check out #ThumbHub on dAmn (Did you know we had a chat system!? A lot of people don't ) We get a lot of great artists popping in to share their work and it varies from Traditional art, to photography, to poetry Also a great place to gain more exposure for your art AND to make some new friends xx
