'Spotlight: Behind the Easel' 2013 v.05
Traditional-Art-Only is proud to present our special feature series, "Spotlight: Behind the Easel"
We'll be featuring one special member of our group, our top gallery contributors.
Drum roll, please......I'd like to introduce to you one of our most active members, a very talented and highly skilled photorealism artist! Our featured artist this issue is Ileina
Viki, please tell us a little bit about yourself...
It's a great honor for me to be featured by one of dA's best groups. I really appreciate it.
1. Is there a story behind your deviantART name?
Not a really good one When i was playing Final Fantasy VIII for the first time, I was thinking about a nice name for a charakter and then there was suddenly "Ileina"
2. What do you like most about dA? Least?
I really love to see other peoples works! There is so much inspiration on dA and also a lot of helpful tutorials. What I don't like really much is that as an (traditional) artist
I just received a comment on my David Lynch drawing. It gave me goose bumps.
When people say to me what is the point in creating a portrait when you can take a photo I always smile. Where do I begin, is there any point in attempting to explain, is it worth the effort as you can't change the opinion of ignorant easily.
Your drawing is amazing on it's own, but compare it to the reference and you can understand why people say art is magical and haunting. You have brought the portrait to life. The differences are small but make it more captivating than the original. A photo captures a moment, a single fraction of a second. A piece of art captures your heart and emotion.
Comments like these make the effort and dedication worthwhile....
I love my watchers, but it is becoming harder to thank each individual person for helping me out. So, I've decided to hold a contest, as a way of saying thanks. It's not much, but I figure it's a small way of giving back to the people who have supported me and helped me get to where I am today.
The theme is very simple. Create a piece of artwork involving any of my birds. It can be one of them, two of them, all of them, one of them and one of yours together, anything. It can also be any medium. Drawing, photo-manipulation, poetry, crafts, anything! If you create something that absolutely blows me away or that I can't help but love, I may be tempted to buy it. If you're not sure whether or not your idea qualifies, you can note me.
Here are some reference pictures of my birds, and a bit of info that may be helpful about each. The more inventive you are with this, t
NatMorley has proof...
Ok so a friend linked me to natmorley's proof video.
If you are not familiar with this case you can read about it here http://ileina.deviantart.com/journal/Fake-art-325043657
Now this journal is just for those of my friends who care, if you believe her then too bad for you. Don't bother defending her here.
I'm just updating my friends, and I am too tired to write notes.
So her proof is that she has large versions of her work. How is that proof? I could go down to my local school and get an A2 copy of..whatever. And I live in a really small town.
All I'm saying is that large copies of a drawing does not prove squat.
How about a video where you draw everything from scratch?
Those are my words on the case
1 Year Celebration
So, I noticed that in 3 weeks my Premium account will expire. That means, that this is my 1 year celebration of being active on DeviantArt, and my renewed interest in traditional drawing.
It was about a year ago, that I decided to take drawing seriously.... All those years before I had been drawing on a occasionally basis, not spending more then 1-2 evenings on a drawing. Also, the paper and materials I used were not that impressive. Most of the time I used an HB pencil that was floating around, and printer A4 paper.
That all changed when I was browsing dA, which I knew for a long time, and looked at all the amazing graphite drawings. At that time, I did not believe I had the potential of creating equal stunning drawings. I gave myself 2 years to practice, and went out to the art shop. Based upon messages in the forums, I decided to buy Canson Bristol Smooth and Staedtler Mars Lumographs, and went to decide which would b

Wersja polska: http://ilojleen.blogspot.com/2012/10/konkurs.html
Since it's my 10th art anniversary this year [I took up drawing exactly 10 years ago], I decided to make a contest. I asked the readers of my Polish blog what kind of contest they want, a raffle or they want to draw something, if yes, what technique and what theme do they prefer. Basing on their choices and my own ideas, I came up with this contest:
The scene from your favourite movie or series
Any movie or series counts, new, old, foreign, your domestic, black & white, colourful. You can include as many people in your work as you wish, but one person at least. You may d

So... the contest results are in, and here are the top three chosen by KristofDeSaeger
Congratulations to you winners!
Contest - The Blood is the Life... results
The blood flowed down upon my shirt and coat, and as he watched it with a narrow gleaming eye. It seemed an eternity that he watched it ...." I think that he knew what I meant to do before he even did it, and I was waiting in my helplessness as if I'd been waiting for years. He pressed his bleeding wrist to my mouth, said firmly, a little impatiently, "Louis, drink." And I did.
Congratulations to everyone who entered my little contest about vampires. I am extremely happy with the results, and am glad you all sent in an amazing piece of vampire visions. To show this, I will first review every entry that I have received:
The first entry I received. The artist was not sure about his vision, but I liked it a lot. Drawing is not all about technique, but more about the vision. I like the male vampire a lot. The hat gives him a 'Victorian Times' look, which I really like.
