About Me and a FAQ

small heart - aqua About Me

♥ I am a mother and a hobbyist artist. I do photography, digital art, and traditional art. Sometimes I also do CSS and web design.

♥ I am a disabled Air Force veteran, a reverend, and I am college educated (highest degree is a BS in Math). The light of my life is my beautiful daughter!

Outside of dA, I participate in several charities such as volunteering with the Blood Mobile and Relay for Life, rescue stray animals, and participate with my local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa as much as possible. I may have downsized what I do on deviantART, but my love for those I have met here only grows!

♥ On deviantART, I participate in several groups - most of them are about Sailor Moon, respect or positivity (or a combination of the three). Much of my online activity has moved to Facebook and SMAU despite my continued activity in a few groups on deviantART.

My Personality Type :3I am an ISTJ: "The Duty Fullfiller"
So some drama on dA paved the path that inevitably led me to a friend who led me to the Myers Briggs personality test. That is the link to the free test that I took - it was my favorite of the 3 tests I tried. According to the results, I score very high in all traits - like I am a hardcoring factual phenomenon lol. I am the ISTJ personality type which, if you know me, is the analytic, logical, realist, emotionless part of me that so many seem to hate lol. :3 It is eerily like looking in the proverbial mirror. You can follow the link to the full personality profile or just read a quick recap (yes, this is the quick version as their is a ton of information on this site):
ISTJs are quiet and reserved individuals who are interested in security and peace
  My deviantART StoryMay 6, 2009
A lifetime ago.
It really does seem like a lifetime ago. So much has happened! I don't even remember being a n00b on dA anymore. I don't remember what the layout looked like. And I hardly remember the works I submitted. But I remember why I came... For art. That is it. I stayed for the community. Not art. Not support. Not advice or critiques. For the people in my fandom. To meet them. To be part of something bigger than me.
And boy did I bite off more than I could chew!!

One of the first works I favorited on deviantart. It was this piece alone that I followed from the search on Alta Vista that took me to deviantart. And I was hooked.
I came because I saw something pretty that I loved. I stayed for the community. It was that simple. Since then, that community I stayed for has challenged every part of my being... Not just art-wise but also what I think about in regards to my favorite fandom.

small heart - aqua A FAQ

So here follows the most common questions and comments I get along with the briefest possible answer I have to give. If you have other questions or comments that you think should be here, don't hesitate to let me know.

:bulletgreen: What tools do you use? I use a Wacom Cintiq 13HD Tablet with Photoshop. I have a Canon Rebel T3i and use Lightroom for post processing. I also use a 0.5HB lead in a mechanical pencil and notecards / sketchpad for drawing plus whatever colored pencil and white gel pen I can afford that month.

:bulletpink: Can I have points / art / money? Are you giving away points / art / money? No. Please go to dAWishingWell .

:bulletpink: Will you add me to your personal Facebook? No. Never. Not until our souls have melded together.

:bulletpink: Are your commissions open? Will you draw ... ? Yes. Commissions are always open. I do not work for free tho.

:bulletpink: Why do you only draw senshi? Who are your OCs? I don't draw only senshi. But I do draw a lot of senshi - I am a fanartist and my favorite fandom is Sailor Moon after all. You can check My OC Diary for the most up-to-date information on my OCs. I also have a Team Page.

:bulletpink: How do you become a Senior / get the Deviousness Award? Work hard and be kind.

:bulletblue: Are you really a veteran? Yes. I am a service connected veteran from the Air Force. I have a disability from an injury I received in the military.

:bulletblue: Are you really a reverend? Yes.

:bulletblue: Can you tell me stories from when you were in the military? No. I don't speak much on that time.

:bulletblue: How were you injured in the military? I fell during basic training. I tore my knee up really bad - required physical therapy to be able to walk properly again... still can't walk properly and now my foot is messed up too...

:bulletred: You have an ED page. Your groups have ED pages. I know. You aren't telling me anything new.

:bulletred: I saw / So-and-so said ... about you! I don't care. Go away.

I see a pattern between you and others (including myself) in that it seems people who have anxiety problems also love a good debate. Not all of them are like you, in that they don't mind disagreeing, but every time I seem to find someone who enjoys a good debate and does not cover away from it, they also seem to end up having anxiety issues. I've reigned in my own such issues long ago, but I've talked to people a few years older than me (I'm 29) and they say they started having problems only "recently" (at about mid-thirties) in their lives. I'm led to wonder what the future holds for me, but I see it as a new challenge waiting. I love mental obstacles, though they can often be the most trying. Maybe that's why--just as I love a good debate, an obstacle that's hard to overcome because you can't control the way the other person sees things except through explaining your own position in a very well-crafted way. Then there's dealing with the people who don't want to listen to logic and science, just to stick to their own beliefs even if they want to believe grass isn't green. Nothing to do there but shrug and leave them in their world of neon pink grass (which would look cool if it was real :D but it would hurt your eyes after a while... then again, if it was always that way, then humans would have evolved to adapt easily to it and perception of that kind of thing would be part of out biology---and not I'm rambling in parentheses ^^; ).
In looking at a debate, I suppose it really IS one big anxiety session, even if we deal with that anxiety so well that we don't notice it. It's kind of an adrenaline rush, now that I think of it. Perhaps debating helps us vent our anxieties, the way an angry person needs to vent by hitting a punching bag...
I wonder if someone studied this already, because it sounds interesting! and I'm always interested in knowing how my mind functions so I can better care for it (since you can't care for anyone if your not "all together" in your head ;) ). Have you ever heard of something like this before?

Well I do know that just from my own personality, I just love a good debate. I think my mental disorder(s) come in to play more in that I, even in person, can't tell when people are serious or jesting. So, like in the last fiasco that happened to me on dA, a deviant said one thing but I thought they were being sarcastic and replied the same and they really got upset over it and ended up blocking me :/ It was like a whole 3-day drama session that blew way out of proportion when I apologized which caused them to block me, try to reply, not be able to reply (because they blocked me), and then post a callout about me being a jerk who comments and then blocks. So... I don't know. It's why I usually just stay srs bsns on the internet. But I do love a good debate with someone who gets that it is just opinions and a conversation - nothing bad or hateful.

That is absolutely amazing that you are a reverend. My grandfather is a Pastor, my uncles are preachers, three of my cousins are preachers, two of them are pastors of churches, one is a youth pastor. My husband and I are the youth ministers at our church (got quite a few troubled young men and I love my job there), my sister in law is a clergy at a portland veteran hospital, and after my grandmother died my grandfather remarried to an ex pastor of a holiness church. I walked away from church for about a year or so when I turned 20 and met my husband... we came back after we almost lost everything and any time something has gone wrong for us my church family has always been there for me and supportive of us through prayer and just being there emotionally. I've seen God bring us back from nothing. It's amazing to hear what you've been through and that you turned to God and are still faithful to Him.

It was hard at times when I lived close to my family.... one reason I stopped going to church when I moved away. It was hard to live up to their expectations and live under a microscope.

Yeah we moved back in with them after we hit a low in our lives (no job, no support from his parents because they didn't like me) so we ended up getting close to God again. Then God led us to Orlando FL to work in a church here after David lost his job four years ago.

extremely. We had no idea why He was leading us to Orlando Florida and floundered around for two years before He led us to the church we're in now. Now that we're here though I see Him working in these youth... and through our own experiences.
